‘I’m Looking at You, So No’: Oprah Winfrey Claims Barbara Walters’ ‘Complicated’ Relationship with Her Daughter Made Her Rethink Becoming a Mother
Oprah Winfrey has never shied away from sharing intimate details about her life, and now the media mogul is revealing another deeply personal factor that shaped her decision to remain childless.
Now, in a candid moment captured for the new documentary about legendary journalist Barbara Walters, the 71-year-old powerhouse opened up about how witnessing her mentor’s tumultuous relationship with her daughter influenced her own path away from motherhood.
The revelation comes as part of “Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything,” an ABC News Studios documentary that begins streaming on Hulu on June 23.

(Photo by Raymond Hall/GC Images; Slaven Vlasic/Getty Images)The film features intimate interviews with prominent figures in journalism, including Winfrey, Katie Couric, Connie Chung, and Cynthia McFadden, all reflecting on Walters’ groundbreaking career and complex personal life. Through archival footage and new conversations, the documentary paints a comprehensive portrait of Walters.
Winfrey recalls a specific conversation that left a lasting impression on her life decisions.
“I remember her telling me once that ‘there’s nothing more fulfilling than having children, and you should really think about it,'” the OWN founder shares in the documentary, according to People.
In 1988, Oprah told Barbara Walters that she studied + copied her mannerisms for a TV audition. Barbara would look up/down, so Oprah looked up/down…but she didn’t know that Barbara was ~actually~ just looking at the notecards on her lap. Oprah got the job anyway.
An icon. RIP pic.twitter.com/RM9f73d8Vs
Her response was telling, “And I was like, ‘OK, but I’m looking at you, so no.'”
The exchange encapsulates the contradiction Winfrey observed between Walters’ words and her lived experience as a mother struggling to balance a demanding career with raising a daughter.
Walters adopted Jackie with her second husband, theater producer Lee Guber, in 1968 after experiencing the heartbreak of three miscarriages.
For Walters, who was already making her mark on the “Today” show, Jackie’s arrival seemed to complete her world. The trailblazing journalist spoke glowingly about finally having everything she wanted — a successful career and the child she had longed for. However, the reality of balancing both proved far more challenging than she had anticipated.

The relationship between Barbara and Jackie grew increasingly strained as the years passed. Winfrey described Walters’ “charged, complex relationship” with her daughter as shaped by deep differences in temperament and life goals — a dynamic she admitted was “one of the reasons why I never had children.”
Jackie struggled with her mother Barbara’s fame and the expectations that came with being the daughter of one of television’s most recognizable faces. As a teenager, Jackie began using drugs and eventually ran away from home, leading Walters to make the difficult decision to send her to a boarding school for troubled youth.
The demands of Walters’ trailblazing journalism career often left her torn between work and motherhood. She openly acknowledged the impossible balancing act, noting that workplace attitudes toward working mothers were far less accommodating than they are today.
“So Barbara chose her career over Being more of a mom?” said one person in People Magazine’s comments.
Another said, “Barbara Walters didn’t have an ounce of empathy for anyone, her own daughter included. It was completely obviously in the way she destroyed fragile women in interviews and gave a pass to men dealing with similar issues in life.”
Winfrey’s decision about being a mother was also informed by her own traumatic experience with early motherhood.
According to People, at just 14, she gave birth to a premature son named Canaan, who died weeks later — a loss that resulted from sexual abuse she had endured as a child. This painful experience, combined with witnessing Walters’ struggles, possibly helped crystallize her understanding that motherhood wasn’t the path for her.
For Winfrey, who has been with partner Stedman Graham since 1986, observing this struggle provided crucial perspective on her own life choices.
Another of those life choices that she made because of her career is never marrying the love of her life.
While Graham proposed in 1992 and she accepted, Winfrey later admitted she realized she didn’t actually want marriage — she simply wanted to know she was worthy of being asked. Her television career remained her priority, and both understood this fundamental truth.
Winfrey’s honesty about learning from Walters’ experience — both the triumphs and the challenges — offers a nuanced perspective on the complex choices women face in balancing personal desires with professional ambition.
‘Beat the — Out of You!’: Video of Chicago Cop Grabbing Teen By Neck and Forcefully Shoving Him at a School Ends His 30-Year Police Career
A veteran Chicago police officer can no longer return to law enforcement after he was charged for grabbing a teenage boy by the neck and shoving him outside an elementary school two years ago.
The Chicago Tribune reported that 56-year-old Craig Lancaster, who served with the city’s police department for nearly 30 years, agreed to voluntarily decertify as a police officer as part of his plea agreement.
Craig Lancaster is captured on video grabbed a teenage boy by the neck. (Photo: YouTube screenshot/CBS Chicago)Lancaster was charged with felony aggravated battery in November 2023, six months after he assaulted 14-year-old JaQuwaun Williams as the teen walked by an elementary school.
Local prosecutors did not start investigating the officer until after school surveillance video of the attack emerged.
The footage shows Williams merely walking past Lancaster when the off-duty cop, unprovoked, grabs the teen by the throat and forcefully shoves him, sending him stumbling backward. Williams backs away as Lancaster walks toward him, but a teacher intervenes and points the teen toward the school building. Williams then walks toward the building.
A lawsuit filed by Williams’ family stated that after the teacher separated the teen and the cop, Lancaster still followed Williams, stared him down, and threatened to “beat the f—” out of him.
Lancaster was reportedly on school grounds to drop off money for his girlfriend, a teacher who was directing students into the school.
When authorities began investigating the incident, Lancaster tried to paint the teen as a threat to other students lingering around the school.
“Officer Lancaster is a decorated Chicago police officer who was legally at the school when the minor child became a danger to the students and the staff,” Lancaster’s attorney, Tim Grace, wrote in a statement in November 2023. “He acted in a manner to protect the children and staff from a student who clearly was a threat to all present. He was acting within the scope of his duties as a law enforcement officer and acted in a manner that is consistent with the rules of the Chicago Police Department and laws of the state of Illinois.”
Lancaster was relieved of his police powers after authorities began officially investigating him.
He recently struck a plea deal with prosecutors that reduced his charge to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. In exchange, he must never return to police duty, serve 18 months’ supervision and undergo eight hours of anger management.
His attorney says he thought prosecutors went too far with initially charging him with a felony, but told the judge that Lancaster “accepts his responsibility for his role in this case.”
Lancaster’s 30-year police career began as a civilian employee overseeing the city’s transit systems. Records show that in his tenure, he’s faced 28 misconduct allegations, most of which were use-of-force complaints. He was accused twice in 2004 and 2006 of grabbing suspects by their neck or throat.
He was cleared in both those cases.
Only three of the complaints filed against him ended in disciplinary action. Two of those allegations included discharging a weapon while off duty and resulted in unpaid 30-day suspensions.
‘He Was a Cheater with Their Friend’: Hugh Jackman Reportedly Scrambling as Estranged Wife Considers Exposing His Secrets in Explosive Tell-All Amid Sutton Foster Rumors
Hugh Jackman reportedly is scrambling to control the narrative as his messy divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness threatens to expose deeply personal details about their 27-year marriage.
The “X-Men” actor is said to be deeply worried that his estranged wife may be preparing to share intimate secrets about their relationship in a tell-all memoir or high-profile television interview.
The dissolution of Jackman’s marriage to Furness was shocking to many.
Hugh Jackman fears his ex-wife may expose marriage secrets in a tell-all amid his romance with Sutton Foster. (Photo by ANGELA WEISS / AFP)After 27 years together, the couple announced their separation in September 2023, initially presenting a united front of mutual respect and love. However, the narrative took a dramatically different turn when Furness filed for divorce in May 2025, accompanied by public statements that painted a far more complex picture of their relationship’s demise.
According to RadarOnline, a contact close to Jackman revealed he is nervous about what his ex might reveal, despite her staying mostly silent during their marriage and the early stages of their separation.
The alleged contact said the “Wolverine” actor is “seriously anxious about what she might disclose” in the future, thinking she might one day write a memoir about their relationship and give details or agree to a tell-all TV chat with a large network or journalist.
“Deborra has remained silent and handled things privately, largely out of respect for the children and to preserve her own dignity and peace of mind,” the alleged insider shared. “But now that everything is finalized, she’s free to speak up if she chooses.”
Jackman’s alleged relationship with Broadway co-star Sutton Foster is said to have begun in 2022 during their run in “The Music Man” on Broadway, though it didn’t become public until January 2025. Their onstage connection has since become a focal point of speculation — and, reportedly, a source of deep hurt for Furness.
While Jackman and Foster maintain their relationship began after both had separated from their respective spouses, Furness reportedly feels betrayed by how quickly her ex-husband moved on with someone she once held frequent double dates with Foster and Foster’s husband, “Ocean’s Eleven’ screenwriter Ted Griffin.

Financial documents reveal the sophisticated nature of their separation, with property records showing that Furness paid $11.7 million to acquire Jackman’s stake in their Manhattan penthouse just days before filing for divorce.
The transaction settled which of the two will keep the nearly 5,000-square-foot Chelsea property originally purchased for $21 million in 2022, just one piece of the pair’s global real estate portfolio spanning the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Still Facebook fans would not let up on the Marvel actor who turned his once private family and marriage into a mockery in the media.
“Why not? You were the cheater and embarrassed her,” wrote one person siding with Furness allegedly writing a tell-all book.
Another said, “And so she should. He was a cheater with their friend,” while a third added, “Guess he should have respected her enough to leave before hooking up with his co-star (which is not a step up). I hope she does.”
Some say it’s completely Jackman’s fault if his ex-wife decides to expose his darkest secrets to Hollywood.
“I hope she tells the world – although I do believe that she won’t as she is a classy woman!” said a fourth person. “He should not have betrayed her,” concluded another.
View this post on InstagramA post shared by Daily Mail (@dailymail)
Furness recently broke her silence about the split with pointed comments about betrayal and trauma.
She referenced navigating “the traumatic journey of betrayal” and described it as “a profound wound that cuts deep.”
Tabloids quickly seized on her remarks, claiming they caught Jackman off guard. Citing unnamed “insiders,” reports suggest he was genuinely surprised by Furness’ pointed comments and doesn’t share her view of how their relationship unraveled.
The couple’s current dynamic has been described as complicated and strained, particularly as Furness appears empowered to share her side of the story for the first time. Industry insiders — or anyone else who realizes the two had been married for 27 years — note that she possesses intimate knowledge of Jackman’s rise to fame and personal struggles, making the prospect of a memoir or high-profile television interview particularly concerning for the actor.
“Hugh is already stressed over the relatively gentle statement Debs made once the divorce was finalized,” Radar’s alleged insider revealed. “He didn’t see it coming and has been telling everyone they know how ‘betrayed’ he feels.”
Happy birthday @Deborra_lee.
This is the 28th time I’ve celebrated this day with you. You’ve taught me many things, including how to celebrate. Celebrate life, family, friendship & love. Your light & joy lights up all around you! We hope you bask in that glow each day forward! x pic.twitter.com/wrGuLWgjiL
The irony of both parties feeling betrayed underscores the complex emotions surrounding their separation.
Despite the personal turmoil, both Jackman and Furness remain committed to co-parenting their two adopted children, son, Oscar, 25, and daughter, Ava, 19. The family dynamic has become even more intricate, as The Star reports there are whispers that Jackman and Foster are considering adoption themselves, potentially creating a blended family situation that adds another layer of complexity to an already delicate situation.
Foster also shares an adopted daughter, Emily, with her husband Griffin, who was born in 2017.
‘Returned to Take Turns’: Two California Boys Charged with Murder After ‘Repeatedly’ Stomping 66-Year-Old Man to Death as He Slept Outside Church Next to His Wheelchair, Prosecutors Say
Two California teenagers were charged with murder after allegedly stomping a 66-year-old man to death as he slept outside a church, prosecutors say.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office charged the 14 and 15-year-old boys with the murder of Davy Glen Pichel following a violent encounter on June 4.
St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oxnard, California. (Photo: Google Maps)According to a news release, a church volunteer found Pichel’s body on June 5 outside St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Oxnard. When paramedics arrived, they pronounced him dead at the scene.
Prosecutors say that church surveillance footage captured Pichel’s last moments alive. The video reportedly showed Pichel as he was seated near the church door next to his wheelchair when the teens approached him, then beat and stomped him.
They walked away, but returned a short time later to take turns stomping him again, the release states. After briefly walking away again, they returned one final time and repeatedly stomped him.
During that final attack, the teens also removed and took part of Pichel’s clothing, then fled the scene.
The next morning, a church volunteer called local police after finding Pichel next to the church, partially unclothed, with significant injuries to his head and facial area.
The teens are currently being detained at a juvenile facility.
They appeared for their court arraignment on June 10, but at the request of their attorneys, the hearing was continued to June 24.
The district attorney’s office told Law&Crime that the boys are currently facing charges in juvenile court.
The case bears similarities to another violent stomping death out of Washington, D.C., where five teenage girls were charged and convicted of beating a 64-year-old physically disabled man to death.
Authorities say that the girls, who were between the ages of 12 and 15 at the time of the attack, chased the man into an alley where they beat, punched, and stomped him to death. They also filmed the assault, and one of the girls bragged about it to her friends.
‘He Followed His Command’: Chicago Man Who Suffered Permanent Eye Damage After Cop Uses Taser on His Face Says He Was Trying to Protect Female Friend
The first thing you notice about 22-year-old Dominic Bradford is his right eye, where his eyelid is stitched together following four surgical procedures.
The stitches will eventually be removed, but the scars will persist. Doctors have told Bradford he may never see out of his right eye again.
“I’ll never look the same again, or feel the same again, quite frankly,” the Chicago man said. “This is what my reality is right now. I don’t wish this on my worst enemy.”
Dominic Bradford was hit with a Taser in his eye by a Chicago Police officer. (Photo: YouTube screenshot/ABC 7 Chicago)The damage to his eye came after a Robbins, Illinois, police officer struck him in the face with a Taser. It all went down on March 18 when Bradford was forced to leave a convenience store after words were exchanged with the officer, who had asked the 22-year-old to stop knocking on a glass counter inside the store.
The officer’s bodycam footage, obtained exclusively by Chicago’s ABC affiliate, tells the rest of the story.
Bradford had left the store but admitted being “frustrated, upset, being removed from an establishment for no reason.” But still, he and his friends can be seen walking to their vehicle, complying with the officer’s command.
The officer, holding a Taser in his hand, approaches the car and orders Bradford to get inside.
“Say something else. You’ve got two seconds to get in the car,” the officer is heard saying.
Bradford is suing the officer and the village of Robbins, claiming the use of force was unjustified and unprovoked.
“I’m not here to sugarcoat the fact that Dominic was angry,” said Keenan Saulter, Bradford’s attorney. “But he’s outside the store. That’s the key. He followed his command. … Police officers, quite frankly, are trained to deal with individuals who are not happy that they are being interacted with by police. That’s part of the job. That doesn’t mean police officers don’t have feelings, they do. But they’re trained to not emotionally react, particularly when they are not being placed in danger.”
After the officer approached the car with the Taser, things got heated, as Bradford’s friends came to his defense.
The officer deploys his Taser on Bradford, who then advances toward the officer.
“I was feeling a mode of protection, because I had just watched the officer push my friend away to tase me,” Bradford told ABC-7. “It was very intense, and everything was happening super fast.”
That’s when he’s hit in the face with the Taser.
Backup is called. Bradford re-emerges from the vehicle in distress.
“Look at my face. I’m in pain,” he says.
Bradford is last seen being taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
“It was difficult to view. My husband had to support me because, that’s our son,” Bradford’s mother, Starlet Banks, said. “To see blood on his face, his eye almost hanging out of his head, grotesque is the only way to describe it. … No mother, father, no parent should ever have to see their child in that situation.”
Robbins police defended the officer, saying Bradford “was irate and noticeably intoxicated” during their exchange. The officer remains on the force. Neither he nor Bradford was criminally charged.
“All of which was in response to the owner of the local business requesting the officer to have the individual leave the store following a prior hostile exchange,” the statement continued.
“I feel confident in saying that video does not display his proudest moment, but in that video, I watch him and his friend walk away,” Banks said. “I don’t understand why he pursued them. If he told them to leave and they left, what’s the rationale for following them to the car, engaging with them verbally? At that point, it’s like antagonistic.”
‘I Bit My Tongue for the BS They Pulled’: Snoop Dogg’s Rarely Seen Love Child Lashes Out After Being Passed Over to Play His Dad In Three Movies, Including ‘Straight Outta Compton’
An upcoming movie about Snoop Dogg has generated familial strife. The Death Row Pictures film will be the “definitive biopic about the entertainment mogul and icon.” Hours ahead of the 2025 BET Music Awards on June 9, it was revealed that “Outer Banks” star Johnathan Daviss had been cast to portray the West Coast rapper on the big screen.
His portrayal will mark the third — Jarrett Ellis previously starred as Snoop in 2017’s “All Eyez on Me” and LaKeith Stanfield portrayed the hip-hop godfather in 2014’s “Straight Outta Compton.” Snoop was among the three recipients of the Ultimate Icon Award. Daviss attended the awards ceremony alongside the hip-hop artist, his wife, Shante Broadus, and their daughter, Cori.

(Photo by Phillip Faraone/Getty Images)News of the actor’s next big role was met with much excitement on social media, where some fans praised his talent. “Strong actor to do the job. Its not a look a like contest its an ACTING ROLE,” read one comment on Instagram. A second reaction read, “This is amazing casting.” But at least one person begs to differ: Julian Broadus.
The 26-year-old was born in 1999 to mother Laurie Helmond. Snoop and Shante wed in 1997. They welcomed their sons Corde, 30, in 1994 and Cordell, 27, in 1997, and daughter Cori in 1999. In Instagram Story posts, the young man unleashed his frustrations regarding the upcoming biopic.

— LunarSkye (@LunarSkye) June 10, 2025“Look I bit my tongue for that BS they pulled on Straight outta Compton, All Eyez on me & now this rubbish,” he began. The grievance of being bypassed continued with “I’m only growing older & wiser with time yet the decisions I’m seeing made to honor someone I genetically come from are absolute appalling.”
He punctuated the venting session with a declaration: “Real West Coast King stop playing with me this royalty s—t runs deep in my bloodline.” Multiple people were stunned by the public airing of the family business, as several had no idea that Snoop had fathered a third son.

“Which son is this I thought he only had 2 sons,” asked one person. Baring the rapper’s track record of extramarital affairs, someone else wrote, “I never knew he fathered a child outside of his marriage- although I’m not surprised.” A third person empathized with Julian when they noted, “Cube son had the opportunity to play his Dad. I can definitely see his point.”
The rarely seen son was last spotted with his family when Snoop received his star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. In his BET Awards acceptance speech, the hitmaker expressed gratitude for his family riding the highs and lows with him.
“Especially to my beautiful wife, Shante. Now, you see this is why I’m so rock solid… I got a queen in life and no matter what she held me down, she hold me down, she been there, she’s always been my everything,” he said before subtly giving a nod to his sons.
“My boys — all my boys, and they know exactly who they is — I wanna give a shoutout to my princess, Cori B., my baby girl,” he said. It is unclear if Julian shares a relationship with his siblings, though old Instagram posts reveal he shared a close bond with his father’s late mother, Beverly Tate, who passed in 2021.
‘That is Some Old Skool Stuff Right There’: Def Comedy Jam Creator Shuts Down Rumors About Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac’s Feud, Reveals the Real Beef Started with Bill Bellamy Long Before Kings of Comedy
The beef between Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac did not start with stolen jokes. It did not start over someone blocking the other from getting a role in a big film. According to one of the men behind “Def Comedy Jam,” the two started to have issues over a woman. Sort of.
In a resurfaced July 2024 interview on “The Art of Dialogue,” Bob Sumner, who helped launch “Def Comedy Jam” with Russell Simmons, explained that the rivalry escalated when Harvey started getting his suits from Chicago-based designer Barbara Bates, who had already been working with Mac.
“Def Comedy Jam” creator says he believes the beef between Bernie Mac and Steve Harvey started with a Chicago seamstress, Barbara Bates, who tailored their suits. (Photos: Gregg DeGuire/WireImage; Frank Trapper/Corbis via Getty Images)“Well, I can say this to you: Bernie and Steve had already been in the game, OK? They had already had that little rivalry going on before ‘Def Comedy Jam,’ you hear me? Before Kings of Comedy and all that. So, that was just like something that was happening,” Sumner recalled.
View this post on InstagramA post shared by TIKTOKYOUNGBOSS (@tlyoungboss)
Bates opened her boutique, Bates Designs, in 1986 in Chicago’s South Loop.
She quickly became one of the city’s most in-demand bespoke tailors, known for blending leather, python, crocodile, and fine fabrics into eye-catching suits. Her designs featured pleated leather accents, signature pockets, and bold color palettes — perfect for comics trying to stand out on stage.
“But I think that what really used to drive them nuts was when Steve started getting a couple dollars, right? Steve got turned on to this lady in Chicago by the name of Barbara Bates. … And Bernie had already been down with her because she was from Chicago, you know what I’m saying?” Sumner continued.
Sumner added that their competition wasn’t just about material. It was symbolic.
“So now it used to be like … they used to have the battle in the suits, man,” he said. “And I really feel that their rivalry or whatever you want to call it started more with their attire than anything else, man, you know? And it’s crazy because they weren’t wearing suits at first; Bill Bellamy was the guy wearing the suits.”
Once “The Art of Dialogue” and TLYoungboss reposted the interview, fans chimed in with their takes.
One user wrote, “That is some old skool stuff right there.”
Another added, “Yeah Chicago dudes don’t play about niggas tryna shop at they store.”
A third posted, “Hahaha it can’t be that! I think it’s also the girl not just the suits.”
Another simply joked, “Sounds more like the suit maker than the suits lol.”
While Bates’ suits may have sparked the feud, other issues surfaced over the years.
In April 2024, former radio host Ed Lover claimed Mac once told him that Harvey tried to take his part in “Ocean’s Eleven.”
“All I can say is what Bernie told me,” Lover said on “The Culture Club.” “And he was upset with Steve because he said Steve tried to get him taken off of Ocean’s — the Ocean’s movie he did … and tried to vie for his part after he already got hired. And, uh, Bernie never lied to me. That’s all I’m going to say. He was my friend. I loved him.”
The friction was visible during the 2000 Original Kings of Comedy tour with Cedric the Entertainer and D.L. Hughley.
Cedric addressed the tension during a 2022 appearance on “Club Shay Shay”: “They both alpha males. They both … they just saw it different. But at the end of the day, they was able to get through it.”
A resurfaced clip from a 2000 radio interview during the tour’s press run showed Mac cracking a joke in a Charlotte station’s studio as Harvey sat off to the side with what many called a funky expression while Cedric laughed and Hughley seemed to be thinking about the joke.

Despite everything, Harvey has tried to show respect to Mac in recent years. In 2016, he dedicated an episode of “The Steve Harvey Show” to honor the late comedian, featuring Mac’s family, Cedric, Hughley, Guy Torry, and Mike Epps. When Mac’s widow Rhonda, spoke about his legacy and the continued love from fans, Harvey grew emotional, tearing up on air. Some viewers, after hearing the rumors for so long, still question if the display was genuine.
Mac, born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough, passed away in 2008 at age 50 after a long battle with sarcoidosis. His legacy still lives on through his hefty body of work across television and film.
‘She Had Her Picks’: Jamal Roberts Reveals Cadid Truth About Carrie Underwood, Admits He Never Thought She Was On His Side
Jamal Roberts finally has decided to speak his truth about judge Carrie Underwood, and his words were unmistakably clear.
The 27-year-old “American Idol” winner, who made history as the first Black male champion in 22 years, has broken his silence about the uncomfortable dynamics during his victorious season.
(Photo by American Idol’s historic winner Jamal Roberts broke his silence about judge Carrie Underwood’s treatment of him throughout the season. (@carrieunderwood.Instagram; @americanidol/Instagram).Rather than quietly accepting what many fans perceived as unfair treatment, the former elementary school teacher from Mississippi addressed the controversy head-on during recent media appearances, reigniting conversations about bias in the entertainment industry.
The tension that simmered throughout the season finally boiled over during Roberts’ recent interviews, where he addressed the situation with characteristic grace and diplomacy.
Speaking at BET’s 45th Anniversary dinner, Roberts responded to journalist Nate Vinson’s question about the online chatter surrounding his relationship with Underwood.
this is a man in man’s business
— JULI★N (@JUL7VN) June 11, 2025“Carrie is a country singer and she likes country music,” Roberts explained. “I mean, I don’t think she likes every genre for real. She had her picks, and she had her (choice) of who she really liked, and she stuck with it.”
He added, “We applaud her for sticking to her roots and sticking to who she liked … but I feel like the better person won.”
The controversy traces back to several pivotal moments that left viewers questioning Underwood’s approach to judging Roberts. During his original audition, she told the hopeful he needed to “loosen up” and find some “swagger.”
This comment would later become a flashpoint for discussions about racial stereotypes and expectations placed on Black performers.
The most glaring example occurred during Roberts’ powerful rendition of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” While fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie leaped to their feet in appreciation, Underwood remained seated. Despite acknowledging that Roberts’ voice was “incredible,” she criticized him for missing an opportunity to “move around and entertain,” insisting he needed to “pull out all the stops” and put “100% of yourself into it.”
The stark contrast between judges’ reactions couldn’t have been more apparent. Bryan praised Roberts enthusiastically, declaring “You deserve every bit of this,” while Richie coined the term “Jamalerize” to describe the contestant’s unique ability to transform songs, calling his performance “amazing.” The difference in energy and support was impossible to ignore.
Many of Roberts’ fans commented on his remarks that basically resolved that she just likes what she likes.
“Yeah that’s an understatement @carrieunderwood is partial to the thug trump genre. U can bet they are no Jamal’s in the cult of trump,” one person tweeted.
Another X user tweeted, “I have seen her make many rude faces when other black artist have performed at award shows she has been to. She rolled her eyes at the Whitney Houston tribute after she died I think he knows it’s more than genre related but he obviously can’t say those exact words.”
A third comment read, “Every since Carrie won she have really showed who she is and it ain’t pretty.”
During an appearance on “The Morning Hustle Show,” Roberts further addressed the dynamics with host Lore’l, who didn’t mince words. The conversation revealed Roberts’ awareness of double standards, as he noted the irony of being criticized for lacking “swag” while watching other contestants receive golden tickets wearing “cowboy boots” and “overalls.”
View this post on InstagramA post shared by The Morning Hustle (@morninghustleshow)
Lore’l’s passionate response captured viewer frustration.
“I didn’t like her energy towards you, and I think that’s why I’m shading her in this interview here from the beginning of it, is because I did not like this swagless comment I did, or saying that you needed swag, or I did not like how she looked at you sometimes in some performances. I really wanted to come through the screen,” she declared.
Even Underwood’s attempts at reconciliation seemed to miss the mark.
After Roberts’ victory, she posted on Instagram: “Congratulations to the newest winner of @americanidol!!! I’m so proud of @officialjamalroberts and all he has accomplished this season and I can’t wait to see what mountains he climbs next! He’s going to do great things!”
View this post on InstagramA post shared by Carrie Underwood (@carrieunderwood)
Her subsequent revelation that she had named a baby lamb “Jamal” on her Tennessee farm struck many as tone-deaf.
The finale provided perhaps the most telling moment. Roberts’ crowning moment revealed Underwood’s subdued reaction contrasted sharply with Bryan and Richie’s jubilant celebrations, hinting at her detachment during this pivotal event.
Yet, Roberts has admirably refrained from criticizing the singer.
But the moment has sparked a deeper conversation. Viewers are questioning the role of bias on national platforms and whether Underwood’s behavior reflects a larger issue in how Black talent is received. As “American Idol” preps for a new season, many are asking: Should someone showing that kind of bias return?

‘Reckless’: Georgia Sheriff Faces Lawsuit After His Speeding Deputy Crashed Into Black Motorist Who Died
The widow of a Black man who died after an early morning collision with a deputy sheriff who was allegedly speeding on a rural Georgia highway is suing the county sheriff for negligence and wrongful death.
Dash cam video from Meriwether County Deputy Sheriff Norman Siefken’s patrol car shows it was still dark at 6:09 a.m. on April 2, 2024, when he crossed over a bridge and then smashed into the vehicle of Ronald Moreland, who was turning left at a busy intersection on state Highway 85 in Senoia, Georgia.
Siefken was traveling 67 miles per hour, 12 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 55 mph at the moment of impact, according to the lawsuit filed in Meriwether County State Court on June 10 (obtained by Atlanta Black Star). The complaint says he was not using his emergency lights or responding to an emergency call.

(Photos: Octovene Moreland via Wukela Communications, Meriwether County Government Facebook Page)Moreland, 61, who was on his way to work, sustained severe bodily injuries from the crash and died three days later at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Harry Daniels, the attorney representing plaintiff Octovene Moreland, told Atlanta Black Star. His cause of death was blunt force trauma from a vehicular accident.
Daniels said Siefken suffered minor injuries and was not cited by Fayette County Sheriffs who responded to the accident. Moreland was charged with failure to yield while turning left, which seems to match the dashcam video.
Meriwether Co. Sheriff Dash Cam Video
Siefken “was speeding, and they knew it,” Daniels said. “But they did not cite him.”
The lawsuit claims that Siefken was exceeding the speed limit by at least 20 miles per hour in the moments before the accident as he crossed over a narrow bridge where the posted speed limit is 45 mph. It accuses the deputy of driving in reckless disregard of the safety of others and failing to drive at a reasonable and prudent speed.
“This is about as clear a cut case of police recklessness and neglect as I’ve ever seen,” Daniels said in a statement. “This deputy wasn’t responding to some emergency. He was speeding and driving recklessly, accelerating into a busy intersection without any lights on and he killed a good man as a result. Law enforcement officers are supposed to be making our streets safer, not deadlier.”
Siefken is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, which is filed against his boss, Meriwether Sheriff Chuck Smith. Siefken is protected by qualified immunity for law enforcement officers acting in their official capacity, said Daniels, making Smith, his employer, the responsible party.
Smith is vicariously liable for the negligent and reckless acts of Siefken, the lawsuit claims.
The lawsuit seeks a jury trial to determine compensatory and special damages to recompense Octovene Moreland for the loss of her husband, including pain and suffering, loss of consortium, funeral and burial expenses, and future earnings.
Ronald Moreland was the sole breadwinner in the family, Daniels said, and he and Octovene Moreland were acting as the primary caretakers of their grandchildren.
“Now she’s stuck with that burden of raising the grandchildren on her own, and has the strain of the loss of her husband, and with the toll that is taking on her, it will be pretty difficult on her,” he said. “No amount of money can bring back her husband, but compensation is quite deserved for the magnitude of his loss.”
Smith, who has served as Meriwether County Sheriff since 2013, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Atlanta Black Star. He has 30 days to file a response to the complaint, or until mid-July.
‘Nahh Thats Sabrina Carpenter’: Fans Can’t Believe Hillary Clinton’s Throwback College Look Compares Young Clinton to a Disney Star
Hillary Clinton has been a major player in politics for decades, from her time as first lady to secretary of state to her two presidential campaigns.
The former first lady, now in her 70s, is known for her signature pantsuits and direct political approach. But a recent Instagram post celebrating college graduates just revealed a completely different side of Clinton that has people talking across social media.
Hillary Clinton’s 1969 college graduation photo surprised fans who couldn’t recognize her youthful appearance and noted her striking resemblance to Disney star Sabrina Carpenter.(Image of Hillary Clinton courtesy of The Atlantic)Many are shocked that it is even her.
Clinton posted on Instagram to congratulate the Class of 2025, sharing encouraging words for new graduates and their supporters. But what really grabbed people’s attention was the throwback photo she included from her own college graduation at Wellesley College in 1969.
View this post on InstagramA post shared by Hillary Clinton (@hillaryclinton)
The vintage photo shows a young Hillary — who was then known as Hillary Rodham years ahead of her marriage to future President Bill Clinton — with a fresh face and no makeup, wearing those large-rimmed glasses popular in the late 1960s. People were amazed at how different she looked compared to the political figure they know today, with many saying they wouldn’t have recognized her.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with people celebrating both Clinton’s appearance and her lasting impact.
One supporter wrote, “Love the pic! Strong women make the world turn.” Another person was surprised by how similar she still looks today, commenting, “omg…she looks exactly the same!”
But what really got social media buzzing were the comparisons to Disney star and singer Sabrina Carpenter.
The resemblance was so strong that many people noticed it immediately.
One user was genuinely confused, writing, “Nahh thats sabrina carpenter,” while another admitted their initial reaction, saying, “i thot that was sabrina carpenter for a split second.”
Someone else captured what many were thinking: “Anybody gonna talk about how that’s literally @sabrinacarpenter ‘s twin?”
This Clinton-Carpenter comparison isn’t actually new.
People on TikTok, Instagram and X have been pointing out the resemblance for some time, with users creating side-by-side photos and expressing amazement at how alike their features are.

wow!
— I’m Not That Short (@SheBleedsHipHop) June 14, 2025That college photo wasn’t just any graduation picture. It captured Clinton during one of the most important moments of her early public life.
As president of the student government at Wellesley College, Clinton was chosen by her graduating class to speak at their commencement ceremony. What she did next revealed the bold political instincts that would define her career.
Instead of delivering a standard graduation speech, Clinton decided to respond to the speaker who preceded her.
According to The List, Massachusetts Republican Sen. Edward Brooke, the first African-American to win a seat in the U.S. Senate by popular vote, had given the traditional commencement address, but Clinton and her classmates felt his words were dismissive toward women and young people. Clinton pushed back against Brooke’s speech about radical protest, offering a different perspective right there on stage.
Her response gained immediate media attention. The Boston Globe dubbed her “Golden Girl” the next day, and Time Magazine also covered the story, according to CNBC. That moment launched her into the national spotlight and began a career in public service that would span decades.
Today, Clinton continues to make an impact beyond traditional politics. After her presidential campaigns, she has remained active through her organization Onward Together, which supports progressive causes and grassroots activism. She has also written several books and continues working through the Clinton Foundation on international relations and health improvements worldwide.
Clinton also surprised many people recently by becoming a co-producer of the Broadway musical “Suffs” alongside notable figures like Malala Yousafzai. The show explores the fight for women’s suffrage and won two Tony Awards. When Clinton introduced the performance at the 77th Tony Awards ceremony, she received a standing ovation. Her involvement demonstrates her ongoing commitment to highlighting women’s contributions to history and encouraging civic participation.
Her Broadway involvement began when creator Shaina Taub wrote Clinton a heartfelt letter. Clinton had already supported the musical during its off-Broadway run and became actively involved in helping launch the production, participating in discussions, appearing in promotional videos, and helping host fundraising events. So hip was the music in the show, that the cast was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Musical Theater Album.”
This recently viral college photo reminds people that even the most recognizable public figures have personal histories that can surprise audiences. Clinton has been in the public eye for so long that many people, especially younger generations, only know her as the serious political figure.
Seeing her as a young college graduate offers a completely new perspective on who she was before becoming the political powerhouse everyone recognizes today. The ongoing conversation about her resemblance to Sabrina Carpenter shows how much impact one throwback photo can have in today’s connected world.
‘Can She Get Additional Time for… Racism’: White Woman Who Lied About Two Black Men Attacking Her on Michigan Trail Arrested for Making False Police Report
St. John’s, Michigan, police on Thursday arrested a 20-year-old woman who, three days earlier, claimed she was the victim of an attack on a popular walking trail, the Lansing State Journal reports.
Madison Mackenzie Wright faces two felony charges of false report of a felony, say St. John’s police, who determined her story “did not align with evidence accumulated to substantiate her statements.” Wright’s bond was set at $5,000.
Fred Meijer Clinton Ionia Shiawassee Rail Trail in Ionia, Michigan. (Photo: mitrails.org)Wright told police she was walking alone on the Fred Meijer Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail just after midnight on Monday “when she was confronted by two male subjects who approached her from a wooded area north of the trail.”
Wright said the men tried to grab her and added that one slashed at her with a pocketknife. She described the men as 6-foot tall, thin, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, and Black skin.
“Always trying to blame our men,” wrote one commenter on X. “So much for believing all women.”
Wright reported the attack 12 minutes after she alleged it had happened. In a statement, St. John’s police said officers searched the area at 1:05 a.m., about 45 minutes after Wright claimed the incident occurred. They found no one.
A follow-up investigation confirmed Wright had not been truthful, said police, who warned the public against believing everything they read on social media.
“The St. Johns Police Department would like to assure the community that the safety of the City is a fundamental priority,” police said in a statement. “The inaccurate and speculative social media posts related to this incident resulted in significant concerns for the community. The Department urges residents to rely on information issued by the Department, which will be distributed in a timely and situationally appropriate manner.”
Police added extra patrols to the trail after Wright’s claim. The next day, a woman posted on Facebook that her niece’s friend had been attacked by “three guys with knives” and “was lucky and got away but was beat up and very traumatized.”
That post caused plenty of angst and some accusations that St. John’s police weren’t keeping the public properly informed.
One woman commented, “And we feel so safe in our little town. It can happen anywhere.”
St. John’s residents were understandably upset when they learned the report was false.
“Can she get additional time added for adding that dash of racism into her false report?” wrote one woman.
Summing up the case, one man commented, “Ok now. Take your guns home, put away the pitchforks and torches, and wait for the real facts, till you all want to throw the SJPD under the bus. When something that appears to be serious often it may very well be. Investigations obviously bring out the truth. This young lady needs some help and I hope she gets what is ever needed to put her on track in life.”
‘This Can’t be Real’: Chris Webber Threatens to Sue Over False Claim That He Fathered a Child with Doug Christie’s Wife
Former NBA All-Star Chris Webber has issued a stern warning to podcasters and social media personalities spreading unverified rumors about his personal life, threatening legal action against anyone who continues to perpetuate what he calls “made-up lies.”
The Hall of Fame basketball player and current broadcaster took to social media to address allegations that have been circulating online, making it clear that his legal team is prepared to take action against those who refuse to retract false statements.
Chris Webber threatens to sue podcasters and media outlets spreading rumors about him. (Photo by Allen Berezovsky/Getty Images)The controversy comes from claims made during the June 3 episode of Corey Holcomb’s “5150 Podcast.” Co-host Kraig Smith alleged that Chris Webber secretly fathered a child with “Basketball Wives” star Jackie Christie. Jackie has been married to former NBA player Doug Christie since 1996 and they have two children together: Douglas Christie Jr., born in 2001, and Chantel Christie, born in 1993, the year after Doug was drafted 17th overall in the NBA. Jackie also has an older daughter, Ta’Kari Lee, from a previous relationship.
Although Doug Christie and Webber were teammates in Sacramento for several years beginning with the 2000-2001 season, there’s no indication Webber would have been in the same orbit as the Christies before 2000.
According to Smith, Doug believed for decades his daughter was his until a supposed court battle later revealed the truth, leading to an alleged $4 million settlement supposedly paid by Webber to Doug.
Other outlets quickly jumped on this fanciful set of claims.

And it’s believed that Chris Weber is the biologically daddy and that knew of the possibility the whole time but didn’t say anything?!?? pic.twitter.com/Dqt2R7aatu
On an Instagram Live, Webber delivered a measured but firm message to those spreading the rumors.
View this post on InstagramA post shared by Chris Webber (@realchriswebber)
“What’s up, party people? Man, the Internet is undefeated, huh? That’s why I’m gonna give this friendly reminder to some of my friends out there: you can’t believe everything you read, see, or hear on the Internet, especially when they’re all lies, no proof, just made-up lies,” Webber stated.
He continued, “So, I’m going to take this opportunity to issue my one and only advisory: if you have a platform and you have content with my name attached to lies, take it down now. And to those that started the rumor, that started the lies, and then continued to spread the lies, I dare you not to take it down. I dare you to repeat a lie. You’re not going to say my name, of course; the lawyers are in action, of course, the lawyers are in motion and are motivated.”
Then he redirected to something positive, suggesting anyone needing help “to get through the distractions” by buying his book, “By God’s Grace.”
As he signed off, he wrote, “It’s crazy, the enemy wants us to be distracted, man. Gotta put your blinders on, stay focused, man, stay focused, stay focused.”
The response from Webber’s followers was overwhelmingly supportive, with many praising his dignified approach to addressing the situation.
“This is how’s it’s done! With grace and respect. Always love for Cwebb,” one person wrote, applauding his handling of the controversy.
Another follower offered strategic advice, commenting, “This can’t be real. Stay low let your lawyers do their job.”
The support continued with encouraging messages, as one fan wrote, “Put them blinders on and stay focused!!!!! My brotha!!! Real as they come!!!!” while another added, “Definition of a real Detroit Player! talk to them make it plain!”
However, not all comments focused solely on support, with one person reflecting on broader issues, stating, “This is all driven by black people’s love of mess. Until we change , nothing will get better.”
None of the parties involved has given any credence to these claims, and the story remains unsupported by evidence despite gaining traction online.
Doug Christie, who currently serves as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings, has not publicly addressed the allegations. Similarly, his reality star wife, Jackie Christie, has remained silent on the matter.
The Christie marriage has been a subject of public fascination for years, particularly due to Jackie’s role on the hit VH1 show, “Basketball Wives,” and the fact that the two have weddings almost every year.
Webber, who married social activist and former social worker Erika Dates in 2009, welcomed twins in 2017 after years of fertility struggles. The couple had faced many years of trying before being blessed with their son and daughter.

As the situation continues to unfold, Webber’s legal team appears ready to pursue action against those who persist in spreading the unsubstantiated claims.
A Michigan County Seized a Man’s Car and $2,280 In Cash, But Didn’t Charge Him with a Crime. After He Fought Back, Prosecutor Tried to Jail Him Twice. Now That Official Must Face Him In Court
The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled that a county prosecutor must face a federal lawsuit filed by a man whose attorneys say was unjustifiably charged with criminal offenses twice for challenging a civil forfeiture case.
Robert Reeves, a 32-year-old construction worker and car repairman, partnered with the Institute of Justice to bring a complaint against a Wayne County counsel and prosecutor — Davidde Stella and Dennis Doherty, respectively.
According to the suit, in July 2019, Reeves went to a job site to meet with a friend who asked him if he knew how to operate a skid steer. Afterward, he went to a gas station where he was stopped by police who questioned him about some stolen rental equipment from Home Depot.
Robert Reeves (Photo: Institute for Justice)Reeves was detained, and his car, cellphones, and $2,280 he had on hand were seized by officers. He was jailed for several hours and then released with no charges. However, authorities did not relinquish Reeves’ property and never filed a forfeiture complaint or scheduled a post-seizure hearing, according to the complaint.
Robert’s attempts to retrieve his property failed for months.
It wasn’t until he joined a federal class action lawsuit filed by the Institute for Justice in Februaru 2020 against Wayne County, alleging its vehicle forfeiture program was unconstitutional, that county officials finally surrendered his car and sent him a check for the amount of cash seized in July 2019.
A month later, Wayne County prosecutors charged Reeves with felony receipt or concealment of stolen property. Reeves later learned that the seizure of his property was connected to an investigation by the Michigan State Police task force into a string of rental equipment thefts from Home Depot stores.
The task force did send an arrest warrant request to the Wayne County prosecutor’s office in September 2019, but the office never acted on it, according to the complaint. Doherty then allegedly contacted the task force in February 2020, received a new warrant request calling for Reeves’ arrest, and recommended the task force file the request.
Reeves was arrested in May 2020, but due to complications and delays from the COVID-19 pandemic, his preliminary hearing was delayed until February 2021. At the hearing, the judge dismissed his charges due to insufficient evidence.
Two weeks after the charges were dismissed, the Wayne County prosecutor’s office refiled them again and Reeves had to appear before the same judge in January 2022, who dismissed the charges once again, the suit states.
Reeves’ complaint alleges that the prosecutors abused the criminal process and pursued prosecution against him twice in retaliation for his participation in a class-action suit. The suit seeks damages for the violation of Reeves’ constitutional rights.
In June 2023, the defendants filed a motion for summary judgment to resolve the case without a trial on the grounds of governmental immunity and failure to state a claim. The trial court partly granted the motion, dismissing Reeves’ claims against Stella based on absolute prosecutorial immunity and ruling that the complaint failed to state a viable cause of action.
The court did not grant a summary judgment and allowed Reeves and his attorneys to amend their complaint to better specify the torts listed in the suit.
On June 9, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled that Doherty was not entitled to prosecutorial immunity protections and must face the suit.
Civil Forfeiture Abuse Cases Across the U.S.
People in other areas of the country have also launched legal battles against their local law enforcement departments, challenging civil asset forfeiture abuse.
A Mississippi man sued authorities in Harris County, Texas, after they pulled him over in May 2019, searched his truck, and seized more than $40,000 of his life savings that he planned to use to expand his trucking business. Deputies alleged the money was connected to drugs, but the man was never charged with a crime.
Local police in Rochester, New York, raided a woman’s apartment because they suspected her then-boyfriend was dealing drugs. They seized $8,040, alleging it was connected to an illegal drug operation, but never charged her with an offense. Her boyfriend was also acquitted of the charges he faced.
‘Black Bloodline Just Gone’: Patrick Mahomes and Wife Post New Family Photos and Fans Say The Kids ‘Take After Their Mom’
Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, recently shared what should have been a purely joyful moment with the world — the first clear photos of their 5-month-old daughter, Golden Raye’s face. But for some reason, social media flipped the moment and made it about their kids not being Black enough.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his family posed together in beautiful portraits that captured a picture-perfect family of five, with little Golden dressed adorably in a denim jumper and white onesie. Yet what began as a tender family reveal on social media quickly evolved into something more complex, as fans found themselves focused not just on the newest addition to the Mahomes family, but on conversations about identity, heritage, and the unique scrutiny that comes with being the children of one of the NFL’s biggest stars.
Patrick Mahomes’ new family photos sparked racial commentary with fans online rather than baby celebrations. (Photo by Todd Rosenberg/Getty Images)The heartwarming family photos, posted Thursday, June 12, on Instagram, show the NFL superstar holding his baby daughter as the family of five poses against a brown backdrop.
Brittany also included individual shots of their other children and a precious photo of all three siblings together.
The Instagram post was simply captioned “What truly matters,” suggesting the parents hoped to share a moment of pure family joy.
Patrick Mahomes revealed photos of baby Golden Raye, but fans debated the children’s racial features instead. (Instagram/ @brittanylynne )Many of her followers doted on how cute the kids were with many claiming each child had a little bit of each one of them in their faces.
“Finally a picture of Golden…she’s beautiful and a picture of Patrick. All of your children are beautiful and resemble both parents. Beautiful family!!!!!” one said.
Someone else wrote, “Omggg Golden is ALLL PATRICK!!! I love it! She’s so beautiful!”
However, when the New York Post posted the picture on its Instagram page, the comments section quickly shifted focus from the tender family milestone to discussions about the children’s appearance.
View this post on InstagramA post shared by New York Post (@nypost)
“Black bloodline just GONEEEE chilee,” one user remarked, while another asked, “Why they no look black.”
The conversation continued as someone responded, “Because they take after their Mom & his isn’t that black.”
This isn’t the first time the Mahomes family photos have generated such commentary.
When the family appeared in a viral campaign for Kim Kardashian’s Skims holiday collection in 2023, similar discussions emerged about the children’s features and racial identity, according to InStyle.
Patrick and Brittany’s love story began in high school, long before fame and Super Bowl victories entered the picture.
The couple tied the knot in Hawaii in 2022, after years of supporting each other through Patrick’s rise from college quarterback to NFL superstar. Their relationship has been documented through Patrick’s journey from Texas Tech to becoming one of the league’s most recognizable faces, with Brittany often sharing glimpses of their growing family along the way.
The timing of Golden Raye’s photo reveal comes after months of Brittany carefully protecting her daughter’s privacy.
Born on January 12, Golden joined big sister Sterling Skye, now 4, and brother Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III, who is 2 years old. While Brittany had shared partial glimpses of Golden over the past five months, she had been deliberate about not showing her face until now.
Earlier this week, Brittany appeared on the “WHOOP” podcast where she opened up about her experience welcoming Golden Raye, revealing her competitive approach to childbirth.
She shared how she tracks her labor progress, joking about trying to beat her previous times with each delivery. This detail offers insight into Brittany’s personality — someone who approaches even the most personal experiences with the same determination that likely helped her navigate being thrust into the public eye alongside her superstar husband.
The family’s decision to share these photos represents a significant moment of openness from parents who have learned to balance public interest with their children’s privacy.
This is not abnormal either for celebrity families, Steph Curry’s mother, Sonya, said she has been in deep trouble with her children for posting them without permission.
As one of the NFL’s most prominent young families, the Mahomes have consistently faced scrutiny that extends beyond Patrick’s performance on the field to their personal lives and family choices.
Despite the mixed chatter about race online, the core message of Brittany’s post remains clear in her simple caption about what truly matters. For the Mahomes family, these photos represent a milestone moment with their newest addition, regardless of how the internet chooses to interpret them.
‘Bring the Cougar Out’: Steve Harvey Blushes Over ‘Family Feud’ Contestant’s Flirty Answer About His Looks
Steve Harvey has mastered the art of turning unexpected moments into television gold, and a recent ”Family Feud” episode proves exactly why he remains one of daytime television’s most beloved hosts. The seasoned entertainer found himself on the receiving end of some particularly bold compliments from contestants, creating the kind of spontaneous comedy that has made his version of the long-running game show appointment viewing.
What started as a routine survey question about commonalities between Harvey and Mr. Clean quickly evolved into a flirtatious exchange that left the host blushing and audiences thoroughly entertained.
Steve Harvey delivers another bit of television gold on a recent episode of Family Feud. (Photo: Gregg DeGuire/WireImage)The episode in question, which originally aired on April 22, featured the Hill family taking on what seemed like a straightforward survey question. The interaction began innocently enough, with Harvey presenting the challenge to identify commonalities between himself and the Mr. Clean brand mascot.
“Top six answers on the board, name something Steve Harvey and Mr. Clean have in common,” Harvey announced as the round commenced.
Team player Deborah Hill immediately buzzed in with the top answer of “shiny bald head,” securing her family’s opportunity to control the board.
Jahman Hill was up next and didn’t hesitate. “You’re both famous,” he said coolly. That answer hit the board at No. 3.
Then came Kim Hill, keeping it simple and to the point. “They both like stuff clean. Clean dressed,” she offered. No bells or whistles, just facts. Her response landed at No. 6.
But it was La Tasha Hill who brought the heat. Without missing a beat, she flashed a smile and said, “Good looks.” Harvey raised an eyebrow and turned to her, only to be met with her smizing, nodding confidently, and clapping like she knew it was gold.
“It’s up there,” she added with a knowing grin.
Harvey leaned in, half-joking but fully in character. “Watch ya self, darling. I’m a full-blown situation.” The crowd ate it up. That answer took the fourth spot on the board.
As he moseyed back to the top of the contestant row, full of charm and swagger, he turned to the team captain, Monisha Hill, and tossed her the same question. Without missing a beat, she smiled and said, “They both smell good.” The audience chuckled, but the buzzer wasn’t laughing — that answer earned the family their first X on the board.
It was up to Miss Deborah to keep the family alive on the board. Without hesitation, she dropped a line that had the whole room hollering.
“They both got that tight body,” she said, grinning wider than La Tasha.
Her family erupted in high-fives while the audience broke into laughter, and Harvey — caught off guard — started blushing like a schoolboy.
Before he could even find the right comeback, Miss Deborah doubled down: “Alright now. Alright now!”
Harvey leaned back and laughed, “Aight, Miss Deborah (here he let out a roar with a paw swipe) gon’ bring out the cougar!”
He played along, pretending Miss Deborah was making a move on him. “No on the back now, Miss Deborah,” he teased, stepping away with a grin.
Then she gave him a little tap on the shoulder and squealed, “Ooooooo!” like she’d just touched a live wire.
Harvey whipped around, pointed his finger at her, and hissed, “Ssssss!” keeping the joke going.
Social media users couldn’t resist weighing in on the memorable exchange.
Under the YouTube clip, fans shared their amusement with comments ranging from sympathy for Harvey’s predicament to admiration for Deborah’s confidence.
“The producers must love torturing Steve with these questions,” one viewer observed, while another praised the contestant directly, “Miss Deborah, he’s nothing but a situation!”
Harvey himself joined the conversation when the show posted the clip on Instagram, acknowledging his unpreparedness for such bold compliments.
View this post on InstagramA post shared by Family Feud (@familyfeud)
“Now y’all know good and well I wasn’t ready for Miss Deborah to come with that! Me and Mr. Clean just out here tryna mind our bald-headed business!” he wrote, embracing the humor of the situation.
While most said their answers were the same as Miss Deborah’s first “bald” answer, one commenter questioned, “How is she a cougar when yall bout the same age Steeve?”
Miss Deborah’s second answer about muscular physiques landed in the fifth position, and was the last correct answer before the Hill family snagged three strikes.
Despite losing control — but not the round — to the Victor family, the Hills delivered a moment that stole the show.
Steve Harvey, hosting since 2010, turned the exchange into classic “Family Feud” magic, where laughs and unscripted joy (especially with Black guests) take center stage.
It’s proof his signature blend of humor and heart still connects across generations.
‘That’s What They Call It’: Woman Accused of Assaulting Child ‘Caught Her Off Guard’ After Judge Confronts Her About Using the Term ‘N—r Knocking’
A criminal court judge’s exchange with a woman accused of assaulting a minor took a turn when the judge questioned why the woman used the N-word.
A viral YouTube clip shows a hearing overseen by Texas District Judge Stephanie Boyd for a woman pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury.
After the judge ensures the defendant understands her rights and terms of her plea agreement, she finally asks for clarity on a point in the police report stating that the woman told officers that the victim had “n-knocked” on her door.
Texas District Judge Stephanie Boyd confronts the defendant about using the N-word. (Photo: YouTube screenshot/Court Uncut)When the judge asks the defendant what the term means, the woman and her attorney hesitate until the woman fesses up and says, “n—r knocking.”
The judge asks her to explain further, and the woman says the term refers to when someone knocks on a door and runs away.
“Then why is it n—r knocking?” Boyd asks.
“That’s what they call it,” the woman responds while shrugging her shoulders.
“Why isn’t it Caucasian knocking, why isn’t it Asian knocking, why is it some other knocking? Why is it called that?” the judge asks.
“I don’t know, that’s just the way they say it,” the woman responds.
“No, that’s the way you say it because that’s what you said,” the judge states.
The woman explains that her use of the term “wasn’t to be racist.” She goes on to say how she was irritated by some kids who constantly knocked on her door, but that she “did not touch” one child and doesn’t want to plead to confess she did.
When Boyd suggests the case can go on to a jury trial, the woman opposes the idea and begins to talk about stress from her teen son’s murder two years prior and her desire to end her assault case as quickly as possible, and complete probation.
When Boyd asks the race of the victim, the defense attorney states the child is Hispanic.
Boyd also points to another portion of the police report alleging the defendant appeared intoxicated when the alleged assault took place, and probes further. She clarifies to the defendant that she’s trying to understand why the woman would use the term so she can set proper conditions for her probation.
“I’m sorry, you caught me off guard with the question that you asked me,” the defendant states. “I feel kinda set up with that question, I understand it’s not a word to be used and I understand I used it in a wrong way, and I apologize for that, so I’m sorry.”
Boyd concludes the proceedings by ordering the woman to pay a $500 fine, serve community service, take anger management classes and sober meetings, and adhere to certain employment conditions and prohibitions.
Videos of court proceedings overseen by Boyd often go viral. She once went viral for taking a woman to task for her court attire. Then, she scolded a man for bringing his child to a sentencing hearing, alleging it was a tactic to score sympathy points with her in the hopes of getting a lesser sentence.
‘He Looks More Like Arnold Than His Other Kids’: Fans Blast Arnold Schwarzenegger After Son with Former Nanny Is Filmed Alone with the Actor — But Not Included in Group Shots with His Half-Siblings
Hollywood legend Arnold Schwarzenegger showed up at the Tudum Theater in Los Angeles for the season premiere of his Netflix series “FUBAR.”
Schwarzenegger, 77, made the occasion a family affair by walking the red carpet with his five adult children. However, one son appeared to be isolated from his half-siblings.
Action film icon Arnold Schwarzenegger bonds with his son, Joseph Baena, who was conceived during an extramarital affair with his former family housekeeper. (Photo credit: @joebaena/Instagram)The Austrian-American actor was surrounded by sons Christopher, 27, and Patrick, 31, as well as daughters Christina, 33, and Katherine, 35, in several photographs from the event.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” cast member Chris Pratt, who is married to Katherine, joined the Schwarzenegger clan for pictures. The 45-year-old Minnesota native posed with just Arnold as well.
Arnold shares Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher with his ex-wife, Maria Shriver. He has a fifth child, Joseph Baena, by their former housekeeper Mildred “Patty” Baena.
Shriver married Schwarzenegger in 1986. Joseph was born in 1997, but his parentage remained a public secret until 2011. Shriver filed for divorce later that year. They finalized the separation in 2021.
Joseph, 27, was also in attendance for the “FUBAR” premiere. While Maria’s kids stood together in front of the step-and-repeat backdrop, Patty’s son was photographed separately.

“To be fair, it is a big ask to warm up to the half-sibling from an affair that shattered their family unit. It is out of respect Baena stood off to the side, good kid. There was no drama at the event, a success in my eyes,” one person wrote in the Daily Mail’s comments section.
Another commenter wrote, “I wish that those children could accept Joseph and include him. Joseph has not done anything wrong. But they probably don’t want to aggravate their mother. I’m glad that Arnold has embraced Joseph.”
“Arnold needs to put his foot down with his other children. They’re adults. They need to grow up. Joseph hasn’t done anything for them to treat him this way. It’s disgusting and really shows you how Maria has raised them. Brats,” someone suggested.
People also focused on Joseph’s striking resemblance to his dad. For instance, one person expressed, “Joseph looks more like him, more so, than all his other kids!” Likewise, another comment read, “Joseph looks more like Arnie than Arnie does. Conan vibes.”
Happy birthday Joseph! I am so proud of you and I love you! You are crushing it in the gym, in your real estate career, and in acting. I know this will be another fantastic year. pic.twitter.com/1tgzkaWL3o
— Arnold (@Schwarzenegger) October 2, 2021In addition to looking similar to the “Conan the Barbarian” star, Joseph followed in Arnold’s footsteps by becoming a bodybuilder and an actor. The father-son duo has displayed their bond on social media.
Arnold has publicly acknowledged Joseph as an important part of his life. The ex-governor of California also took accountability for cheating on Maria during their marriage, which resulted in the birth of a nonmarital child.
“It was wrong what I did. But I don’t want to make Joseph feel that he is not welcomed in this world — because he is very much welcomed in this world,” Arnold said in his self-titled Netflix docuseries. “I love him and he has turned out to be an extraordinary young man.”
Joseph addressed being raised by the seven-time Mr. Olympia champion during a sitdown for “Unwaxed Podcast” in 2022. The show is hosted by fellow nepo babies Sophia and Sistine Stallone, the daughters of action movie icon Sylvester Stallone and former model Jennifer Flavin.
“I also have to point out that with my relationship with my dad, it took a little while for me and him to get really close and just [feel] like I can joke around with him and talk about anything,” Joseph admitted to the Stallone sisters.
As a fitness model, Joseph has appeared on the cover “Men’s Health” magazine in 2022. The same year saw the 2019 Pepperdine University graduate compete on the 31st season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Arnold’s oldest son, Patrick, experienced a breakout year in his acting career in 2025. His portrayal of the Saxon Ratliff character in season three of HBO’s “The White Lotus” drama garnered a lot of attention from TV watchers and critics.
Meanwhile, Arnold continues to add more roles to his lengthy filmography. The next eight installments of the “FUBAR” action comedy debuted on Netflix on June 12. The Primetime Emmy Award winner plays veteran CIA operative Luke Brunner in his first-ever television role. He serves as an executive producer for the program, too.
‘They Are Just Brute-forcing the Guy’: North Carolina Cops Pulled Man Having Diabetic Emergency Out of Car, Punched and Tased Him In Walmart Parking Lot, Video Shows
A North Carolina man who says he was having a diabetic emergency when he was beaten, punched, and tased by Spruce Pine Police Department officers in a Walmart parking lot outside Asheville has filed a sweeping federal civil rights lawsuit against the town and its officers.
Dillon Ledford’s 58-page federal complaint, filed on June 5, names three officers — Capt. Michael Hollifield, Officer Michael Sale, and Officer Dalton Mace — accusing them of excessive force and failure to render medical aid during his February arrest.
Moments before the aggressive episode, Walmart employees had called 911 for a welfare check because Ledford had been sitting in his parked car for more than 40 minutes and appeared unresponsive.

(Photo: YouTube screenshot/WLOS News 13)Store employees told dispatch they were calling for medical help or a welfare check, not to report a crime. Still, the officers showed up ready for a confrontation, according to the lawsuit.
The complaint also faults the town of Spruce Pine and Police Chief Kasey Cook for failing to train officers to recognize medical distress and for operating without updated Use of Force policies.
Surveillance video from the Feb. 16 incident, obtained by ABC affiliate News 13, shows Ledford parked in the Walmart pickup area after entering and exiting the store. There were no reports of Ledford having done anything wrong.
Nearly 40 minutes later, Walmart staff called 911 for a welfare check, describing Ledford as unresponsive, twitching, and having “big buggy eyes.” Within 12 minutes, three officers arrived, forcibly pulled Ledford from his car, struck him multiple times, and used a taser. It’s not clear what sparked the use of force, or whether Ledford had done something to make the officers feel threatened during what was a clear medical emergency.
Ledford’s girlfriend, Leslie McIntosh, said he had called her earlier to say his blood sugar was low. “He has no recollection of what actually happened, just bits and pieces, small things,” she said.
According to the lawsuit, the officers “struck, hit, and punched Ledford, who was in diabetic shock.” It further alleges they failed to recognize the emergency and never called for paramedics. Instead, they dragged him from his car and pinned him on his stomach for more than a minute while he was handcuffed — raising concerns about positional asphyxia.
The legal action invokes a newer provision of federal law — “bystander liability for excessive force” — arguing that each officer had the responsibility to intervene. Hollifield is named as a bystander to the striking, Sale as a bystander to the tasing, and Mace as a bystander to both. The complaint argues that none of them attempted to stop the others or report the force to Chief Cook.
Ledford’s family has also raised questions about the use of force and the department’s transparency.
Last summer, local media outlet WLOS attempted to review the officers’ statements but only received heavily redacted reports that were “functionally useless,” said Seth Stoughton, a police use-of-force expert and faculty director at the University of South Carolina’s Excellence in Policing program.
Stoughton reviewed the footage for WLOS and expressed serious concern. “They are just brute-forcing the guy out of the car, which is not how you’re supposed to do a vehicle extraction,” he said. “Whoa, those are punches. Yeah, that’s a lot of punches, actually.”
Stoughton also noted that best practices require officers to treat any potential medical emergency as real: “Officers know they’re not doctors… the consequences of treating it like it’s not are potentially fatal.”
Though the State Bureau of Investigation reviewed the case, District Attorney R. Seth Banks ultimately concluded that while the officers’ failure to call for medical help was “concerning,” it did not amount to a criminal offense. The federal lawsuit, however, focuses on potential constitutional violations and is seeking damages and a jury trial.
The town’s attorney responded to the lawsuit by saying, “Once the Town is served a copy of the pleading, it will be reviewed and we will respond accordingly.”
‘Doesn’t Understand What It Means to Put Country Before Himself’: Maryland Gov. Wes Moore Blasts Donald Trump’s Military Parade
Army veteran and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore took to X Friday to roast Saturday’s military parade ostensibly commemorating the Army’s 250th anniversary, though widely seen as a bow to President Donald Trump’s ego.
The parade wouldn’t be held if not for Trump, who saw France’s annual Bastille Day celebration, featuring tanks and flyovers, and wanted one of his own. The timing for the event is unusual — America isn’t coming off any major military victories, and the Trump administration’s stated goal of belt-tightening wouldn’t seem to have room for the $25 million to $45 million the parade is expected to cost, according to The Associated Press.

He’ll watch the parade from a viewing stand where he’ll be able to review each formation passing by the White House. It’s the kind of stagecraft favored by dictators from Vladimir Putin to Kim Jong Un.
A total of 6,169 soldiers and 128 Army tanks, armored personnel carriers and artillery will be on display, while 62 aircraft will pass overhead. The White House estimates 200,000 people will attend the festivities, though the weather forecast is bleak.
Moore lamented the president’s role in the parade, writing in the video’s caption that the Army’s anniversary “should be about my fellow service members. Men and women who truly sacrifice for the country we all love.”
“That sacrifice is something this president could never understand,” said the first-term Maryland governor. “It’s because he doesn’t understand what it means to put country before himself.”
It would be hard to accuse Moore, a former captain in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, of that. His service included a two-year stint in Afghanistan.

Moore singled out a former commandant of cadets at his alma mater, Valley Forge Military Academy, as someone who he believes exemplifies the country-first ethos
“When I think of that kind of service, I think about Col. (Billy) Murphy,” Moore said. “He was one of the most intimidating individuals I’ve ever met, but he was also incredibly fair.
“And he demanded excellence from every single cadet he commanded,” the governor continued. “And he also instilled in us a sense of duty to make a positive impact in the world.”
Moore, a Rhodes scholar in college, is widely viewed as a rising star in the Democratic Party and is considered a potential presidential candidate as early as 2028.
His attack on Trump drew a mixed response on X.
One commenter applauded Moore for speaking out.
“Gov, I have the same jump wings as you. Trump hijacked this event,” he opined. “The military is nothing but a prop for Trump. Why wasn’t there one on our 100th anniversary? Why wait until Trump is the president?”
But MAGA adherents were quick to jump to the president’s defense.
“He was nearly killed by a sniper while running for office,” wrote one. “There have been multiple attempts on his life. His political opponents had him convicted and nearly jailed. He’s risked his life, reputation, and fortune to stand for necessary cultural and political change that most established people are too afraid to due to the risk of being called names (and reputational damage).”
“One of the first things leaders are taught is that doing the right thing is often unpopular. And yet few today will veer from the popular course,” he continued. “Trump is unfortunately a rare exception.”
He was also able to secure a deferment from serving in Vietnam due to “bone spurs” in his feet. Trump has routinely disparaged military heroes like the late former U.S. Sen. John McCain and Gen. Mark Milley, who served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the president’s first term.
His former chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, accused the president of regularly disrespecting veterans and current military members.
“A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them,'” Kelly said of Trump in 2023. “A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family — for all Gold Star families — on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.”
Despite that, military veterans turned out overwhelmingly for Trump in the 2024 election. Moore is seen as one candidate who could win back young men who, by a wide margin, turned their backs on Democrats.
Moore said he is motivated by the example provided by the late Col. Murphy
“He’s no longer with us, but his lessons live through me and everyone who had the honor of serving under him,” he said.
“That’s the kind of person who deserves a parade,” Moore concluded.
‘The Ring is Ringin!!!’: Travis Hunter’s Wife Returns to Social Media to Brag on First WAGs NFL Event, Fans Distracted By Gigantic Wedding Ring
Travis Hunter’s wife Leanna Lenee has officially stepped into her new role as an NFL WAG, and social media is taking notice.
The Jacksonville Jaguars rookie’s bride made her grand return to the spotlight this week, attending her first official wives and girlfriends event since their May wedding. What was meant to be a celebratory debut quickly became the subject of scrutiny as fans zeroed in on one particular detail that had everyone talking.

Her return to social media coincided with her marriage to Hunter, the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, signaling a new chapter in both their personal and professional lives.
During her TikTok reveal of the evening’s festivities, Lenee expressed genuine appreciation for the warm welcome she received from the NFL wives community.
“I went to my first WAG event, so I’m going to show you everything I got,” she said while showcasing an impressive array of goodie bags filled with skin care products, beauty items, gift cards, cookies, and liquor. Despite her nervousness, she found comfort in the inclusive atmosphere created by the event organizers and veteran wives who understood the challenges of navigating NFL life.
The event, orchestrated by Women of the NFL and hosted by figures including Marissa Lawrence, wife of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, gave Lenee valuable insights into her new world, according to the New York Post.
She learned about securing game tickets, finding the best seats, and Jacksonville’s top beauty spots. The community aspect particularly resonated with her, as she acknowledged feeling out of her comfort zone but grateful for the support from women who had walked similar paths.
However, it wasn’t the event details or goodie bag contents that captured her followers’ attention. Instead, viewers became fixated on her wedding jewelry — specifically, the placement of her rings. The commentary came swiftly, with social media users expressing both admiration and confusion about what they observed.
“The ring is RINGIN!!!” one person wrote, impressed by the sparkle of her wedding set. Another added, “Travis did his big one on the ring. You look gorgeous.”
Many praised Hunter’s investment in his bride’s jewelry and celebrated the couple’s commitment.
Yet not all reactions were celebratory. Sharp-eyed viewers questioned technical details.
“Why is your wedding ring on your right hand?” one asked.
Another was more pointed: “Why are you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong hand? Single already???”
These comments highlighted how quickly social media users dissect celebrity relationships.
The renewed focus on their marriage comes amid ongoing concerns from NFL insiders about Hunter’s financial protection.
Former NFL linebacker Channing Crowder recently voiced concerns on “The Pivot” podcast, referencing reports about the couple’s wedding.
“Information I’ve gained and the pictures I’ve seen, and I respect Travis all too much, when you say that you’re about to say something mean about somebody. I heard there was no prenup. I don’t like that. This man’s about to be an MVP-type candidate,” Crowder said days after the wedding.
Concerns have extended beyond former players.
Celebrity divorce attorney James Sexton recently used the speculation about Hunter’s situation as a cautionary tale. Sexton has offered free prenuptial agreements to the entire 2025 NFL draft class — although he did not clarify whether that meant he was offering pro bono legal services to the more than 200 players — warning of the financial vulnerabilities young athletes face with front-loaded contracts. His advice underscores the risks NFL players face, given short career spans and concentrated earning years.
The conversation extended beyond TikTok, with readers on other platforms offering opinions on the newlyweds.
One New York Post reader commented, “I can’t knock him for marrying her, she’s a 10, she’s fine as hell. I would just advise him to watch her spending very closely.”
Lenee’s vulnerability about her social anxiety added depth to her public persona, as she openly discussed feeling nervous around new people and worrying about seeming standoffish. Her honesty resonated with those who understand the pressure of joining a close-knit community while under public scrutiny.
As Hunter prepares for his rookie season with the Jaguars, set to begin Sept. 7 against the Carolina Panthers, his wife is adjusting to her own new role in the NFL community. Their story continues to unfold under the watchful eyes of fans and critics, with each social media post becoming a potential talking point in the ongoing narrative of their high-profile marriage.
