‘Oh No… She Would Not Like That’: Dwyane Wade Refuses to Call Wife Gabrielle Union Common Nickname
Love languages come in many forms, and for Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, respecting each other’s preferences extends even to the simplest things, like nicknames. The retired NBA star recently made a candid revelation about his actress wife that had viewers both laughing and taking notes about the intricacies of long-term relationships.
During a guest appearance on the Wednesday, July 9, episode of “Today with Jenna & Friends,” Wade found himself in the middle of discussing relationship milestones when he accidentally stepped into territory that his wife of nearly a decade definitely would not have approved.

The moment came when co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked Wade about the first big step in his relationship with Union, whom he married in 2014.
Without thinking, Wade began his response by saying, “Me and Gabby’s first big step?” before immediately catching himself midsentence. The realization of his slip-up was instant and amusing. “Oh, I called her ‘Gabby.’ She would not like that. Me and Gab’s first big step,” he quickly corrected, his expression shifting to one of genuine concern about his verbal misstep.
Bush Hager, clearly intrigued by this unexpected revelation, pressed for clarification.
“Oh, you don’t call her Gabby?” she asked, probably speaking for viewers who were equally curious about this surprising domestic detail.
Wade’s response was emphatic and telling: “No, no, no, no,” he said, breaking into laughter before adding, “It’s a long story.”
The brief exchange revealed something deeper about the couple’s dynamic and the respect Wade has for his wife’s preferences, even when it comes to something as seemingly minor as a nickname.
The conversation didn’t end there, though. Wade went on to share another nickname that does have the Union stamp of approval within their family circle.
“The kids, if you saw the sign we put up when I proposed to her, it said ‘Nickie’ and I kind of introduced her as Nickie,” he explained.
This particular moniker, he revealed, comes from Union’s middle name, Monique, and represents something more family-oriented and intimate than her public persona.
The “Bring It On” star’s “Nickie” nickname became public knowledge thanks to a federal complaint in 2023.
In a civil lawsuit filed against Jamie Foxx for alleged sexual assault, the accuser claimed that during a 2015 encounter, Foxx made inappropriate comments, including telling her “You look like Nickie,” specifically referring to Gabrielle Union’s nickname. This unwanted association with a sexual assault allegation may contribute to Union’s preference for keeping certain nicknames within family boundaries rather than having them casually mentioned in public forums.

— STUARTIST (@StewardessChick) November 23, 2023Wade elaborated on the significance of using “Nickie” during their early relationship, explaining how it connected to introducing Union to his children.
“OK, her family calls her this, and not Gabrielle Union the actress, that they probably have some previous conversations in that year about her. And so we just tried to go in with that family aspect,” he explained.
The discussion naturally evolved into Wade reflecting on what he considered the most significant milestone in their relationship: Union meeting his children. For Wade, who is father to Dahveon Morris, 21, Zaire Wade, 23, Zaya Wade, 18, Xavier Wade, 11, and shares daughter Kaavia James, 6, with Union, this moment represented a crucial test of their compatibility.
“My kids are so a part of my life and I went through a very public custody battle with my kids as well,” Wade noted, referencing his legal disputes with his children’s mothers. “And so they kind of just came with me. It was kind of like, ‘Alright, stepmom.’ She didn’t sign up to be a stepmom when we started dating, so it was a little rough early on.”
This seemingly simple story about nickname preferences actually illuminates something profound about successful relationships: the importance of paying attention to the small things that matter to your partner, especially when external circumstances might make certain personal details feel less private than intended.

‘Looks Exactly Like Karoline Leavitt’: Amy Schumer Debuts Her Smallest Frame Yet In New Swimsuit Photos After Years of Struggling with Her Weight
When Amy Schumer realized Ozempic and Wegovy had harmful side effects for her, she didn’t let that deter her from trying other prescriptions to lose weight.
Instead, she went for Mounjaro, another injection used to manage blood sugar in adults with Type 2 diabetes. Now it seems that might have been the right solution for Schumer.
In a July 10 Instagram post, the comedian shared a vacation photo of herself in a one-piece bathing suit showing off her thinning frame.

Standing on what appeared to be the deck of a yacht, the comedian wore a black one-piece with white straps as she posed in front of a backdrop of a forested mountain and calm blue water.
She typed, “From the relatocam,” in the caption.
View this post on InstagramReaders at the Daily Mail shared their thoughts on Schumer’s weight loss.
One person said, “She looks great but in a healthy way. She hasn’t overdone it.”
Another wrote, “She looks healthy. Great job.”
Some of her critics claim they couldn’t see much change in her physique.
One person wrote, “Those legs, you can tell she doesn’t exercise one bit.”
Another said, “She looks the same to me.”

“Amy looks exactly like Karoline Leavitt she could be her twin sister,” they wrote. At 27 years old Karoline Leavitt became the youngest person to hold the title of press secretary in the White House.

Back in March, Schumer opened up about her positive experience with taking Mounjaro. “Mounjaro’s been great,” she said before giving the tip that the prescription is not covered by insurance if the individual does not have Type 2 diabetes or “severe obesity.”

“But I’m having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that.”
She can’t say the same for Ozempic and Wegovy.
In the same video where she opened up about her experience with Mounjaro, she also briefly mentioned what it was like for her taking Wegovy. She said, “I wanted to share and keep it 100 with you that — three years ago, I tried Wegovy and I was like puking. I couldn’t handle it.”
The 44-year-old suggested that maybe the formula was changed but essentially it wasn’t for her.
Back in January, she went on “The Howard Stern Show,” where she talked about how bad Ozempic was for her health when she tried it in 2022.
“So, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was like bedridden. I was like, vomiting — and then you have no energy,” she said. The “Kinda Pregnant” star said she has a gene called GDF15 that makes people “extremely prone to nausea.”
While she couldn’t stay on Ozempic, she did give the drug its credit by revealing that it helped her shed some weight. Just not in the healthiest way.
“I lost 30 pounds so quick. I looked great, but I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow. So what’s the point?”
This isn’t Schumer’s first time opening up about her methods to lose weight. Back in 2022, she shared that she got liposuction.
Explaining her decision, she told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s not about needing to be slamming, because I’ve never been famous for being hot, but I’d reached a place where I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror.”
She also shared on her Instagram stories that the procedure helped her get down to 170 pounds.
‘Guaranteed He Cheats on Her Too’: LeAnn Rimes Claims Women Unjustly Bulldozed Her with Hate Over Eddie Cibrian Affair That Broke Up Their Former Marriages
Country singer LeAnn Rimes and actor Eddie Cibrian have been blissfully married for 14 years, but the origin of their love story remains a controversial topic.
Rimes, 42, and Cibrian, 52, launched an affair after meeting on the set of the Lifetime movie “Northern Lights” in 2008.
They were both married — she to manager Dean Sheremet and he to model Brandi Glanville — at the time. The scandalous romance was plastered in the media in 2009 when photos of the co-stars locking lips surfaced. The adulterers announced their respective separations soon afterward, and their divorces were finalized in 2010.
LeAnn Rimes says women threw their pain of infidelity at her for years after cheating on her husband with married actor Eddie Cibrian. Photo: Leannrimes/Instagram.The “Star Search” sensation and Hollywood hunk wed in 2011. Cibrian brought two sons, Mason, 22, and Jake, 18, to the marriage. In a new interview for Flow Space, Rimes recalled navigating backlash from fans who dubbed her a home wrecker over a decade ago.
She recalled facing misdirected anger. “I realized very quickly that there are a lot of women who’ve been hurt. Like, I’ve been on both sides of that coin — I’ve been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling,” she said.
Furthermore, Rimes explained, “I was a target that was just easily projected upon. … This is not all my pain to carry. I know what I’m responsible for in the situation and making amends for that. But you know, the world’s pain is not mine to carry, and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time.”

On X, a user sarcastically reacted to the story with, “Right, we need to be kind to home wreckers.” “You made the choice to proceed with the affair, so you are not the victim,” quipped a equally non-empathetic commenter.
A third user remarked, “He’s slimy..guaranteed he cheats on her too.” In a 2013 interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Rimes admitted that she and and actor experienced lingering doubts of the other’s fidelity.
“We’ve been very honest and open with that to each other and our conversations about it have only made me understand how much he actually cares, as much as I do, about being faithful to each other,” the “How Do I Live” songstress explained.
The pair also buried the hatchet with Glanville to forge a harmonious blended family. The exes and Rimes were all present for Cibirian’s son Jake’s high school graduation in June.
‘That Man Knows His Rights!’: Tulsa Cops Pull Black Man from Bar Without Cause, Swarm Him Over Gun He Didn’t Have — Bystanders Refuse to Stay Silent In Viral Confrontation
Cellphone video posted to social media raised questions about the conduct of several police officers seen surrounding a Black man at an Oklahoma bar, escorting him from the establishment, and searching him for a gun he didn’t have.
The incident was captured at DVL Bar in downtown Tulsa, according to a video post on TikTok.
The video shows two male officers trying to remove a man from his chair while he’s sitting down. Several onlookers protest the treatment, asking the reason for their presence and whether they have a warrant.
Oklahoma cops surround Black man outside of bar. (Credit: bulletprooftacos/TikTok)The officers ask the man to step outside to talk to him, prompting more questions from him and other bar patrons about why they had been called to the bar.
But the officers continued to insist that the man walk outside with them.
When he does, several people, including the woman filming the interaction, follow behind him.
Outside the bar, the man asks why multiple officers are surrounding him if they’re only there for questioning, as onlookers shout at police to conduct their inquiry.
“My uncle literally died from police in this city. Do you not think I’m not gonna be intimidated or scared? Like why is this going on?” the man asks.
“Terence Crutcher, look him up!” he states.
Terence Crutcher died in September 2016 after being fatally shot by police officer Betty Shelby in Tulsa.
His case drew national attention and widespread protests after video footage showed him standing with his hands in the air before he was shot. He was also unarmed.
Shelby was later acquitted of criminal charges she faced for the shooting, but the incident still raised questions about why she chose to take lethal action instead of firing a weapon that would merely incapacitate Crutcher, like a Taser.
After invoking Crutcher’s name, the man continues to ask questions about the reason police have to question him.
“What’s going on? I didn’t do anything wrong!” he yells.
Suddenly, two police officers approach him, place his wrists behind his back while assuring he won’t be handcuffed, and search him.
The woman filming the video pans around the scene to show ten cops surrounding the man as two officers search him.
Onlookers continue to protest the officers’ decision to search the man without providing a reason or asking him questions as they promised.
Finally, after their search is complete and they don’t discover any illicit items, the man begins to log a few of their names and badge numbers in his phone.
A bar manager also comes outside at one point to ask the police why they even pulled the man from the bar.
A few moments later, a female officer finally informs the man that police were called to the bar after learning that someone was carrying a firearm.
“We’re trying to combat the gun violence here and stop people from getting shot,” the female officer states as a rationale. “So what I’m trying to do is make sure that you didn’t have a gun. That’s all I need to know.”
It’s unclear why police profiled the man out of all the patrons in the bar. He and bystanders also questioned the need for such a heavy police presence for one person.
Before the officers let the man return to the bar, one cop asked for his name.
He denied the request, stating that he doesn’t have to give his personal information to police. Oklahoma law dictates that citizens generally don’t have to provide their personal information to police if they’re stopped in public, unless they are stopped for a traffic violation or police have reasonable articulable suspicion the detainee has committed a crime.
“That man know his rights!” someone yelled out in the background of the video.
The footage was posted by TikTok user @bulletprooftacos_ on June 30, who overlaid the video with the text, “Tulsa PD Racially Profiling.” Several commenters also questioned the police’s conduct.
“Glad you recorded this! That’s way too many officers for a man who was calmly minding his business,” one person wrote.
“They didn’t even approach him formally, they just went straight to grabbing him with no explanation. That’s wild behavior,” someone else added.
‘Where the Thighs Go?’: Serena Williams’ Gym Pics Go Viral as Fans Zoom In on Her Unrecognizable Appearance
Serena Williams turned heads and broke the internet Friday, July 11, when she shared stunning gym selfies showcasing a super-fit body that has fans marveling at her post-pregnancy glow-up.
The 43-year-old champion athlete showed off her toned abs and slimmed-down figure in a black sports bra and leggings, nearly two years after welcoming her second daughter, sparking widespread discussion about her remarkable post-pregnancy transformation.

(Photo by Marc Piasecki/WireImage)The viral moment comes just weeks after Williams faced speculation about weight gain during a Mediterranean vacation in late May.
Paparazzi photos captured the 23-time Grand Slam champion enjoying a luxury yacht trip off the coast of Sardinia with her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and their two daughters.
The images, which showed Williams in swimwear with a little pouch poking under her tank top, quickly circulated online and prompted discussions about her post-pregnancy body.

The Compton native captioned the Instagram post, “Working out and working on my angles” for her 18.1 million Instagram followers.
Actress Holly Robinson Peete simply commented on her page, “Shredded.”
When The Shade Room posted some of the pictures, many struggled appreciating her new physique, suggesting they prefer her curvier and thicker body.
“Imma need you to turn around Ms Williams. I need to know if that thang is still thangin’ with this weight loss,” one follower wrote, while another asked, “Where the thighs go???”

Someone else added, “I used to want a body like Serena but not this version. I wanted the thick brick house version. She looks great though!”
Others were so stunned by the change they questioned whether it was actually the tennis icon, with one writing, “Lawd I thought this was Whitney Houston,” and another declaring, “This is not Serena, hell it better not be.”
Talk about Williams’s transformation arrives after many believed she was expecting another child, pointing to her stomach in a video posted on June 4. Coming to her defense, many responded, “Stop asking her this question!”

(Photos: @serenawilliams/Instagram)Her current appearance represents the culmination of what fans have dubbed “The Fitted Jean Skirt Chronicles,” a deeply personal weight loss journey she’s documented transparently on social media since August 2023.
The saga began with her determination to fit into a $3,800 Valentino denim skirt that became symbolic of her post-pregnancy goals. In January 2024, she shared her first attempt to squeeze into the non-stretch garment, barely making it past her thighs.
By May, despite consistent gym sessions, the skirt only reached her derriere but wouldn’t go over it.

Her persistence paid off spectacularly in December 2024, when Williams gathered friends to witness what she called “The ‘Fitted Jean Skirt’ finale.” Surrounded by supportive companions on her bed, she slipped into the designer with unexpected ease, prompting celebration from her inner circle who suggested she might even need to take in the sides to accommodate her now-slimmer waist.
The transformation involved multiple approaches beyond traditional exercise. Williams revealed she underwent radio-frequency skin-tightening treatments on her stomach after a friend introduced her to the non-invasive procedure, demonstrating her comprehensive strategy for achieving her fitness goals.
Her current workout routine reflects years of athletic discipline adapted for motherhood.
“As a mom, I’m actually way more active than what I was during tennis,” Williams shared in 2024 on the “Today With Hoda & Jenna” show, explaining how parenting keeps her constantly moving. She prioritizes high-intensity interval training, incorporating cardio, stretching, and strength training into her regimen.
Williams has embraced technology in her fitness journey, investing in and regularly using Tonal, a smart gym system that provides guided workouts without requiring a personal trainer.

She’s also praised Peloton instructors for their motivational approach, finding inspiration in their encouraging messages during challenging sessions, according to Today.
Despite her intense dedication, Williams maintains a balanced approach to fitness, listening to her body’s needs and taking rest days when necessary. Her favorite cardio remains running, though years of professional tennis have led her to incorporate elliptical training to protect her knees from wear and tear.
The champion’s philosophy extends beyond physical transformation to overall wellness.
“My philosophy is eat to live. Don’t live to eat,” Williams explained, emphasizing practical nutrition over restrictive dieting.
This mindset, combined with her transparent documentation of struggles and victories, has made her weight loss journey particularly relatable to mothers worldwide who understand the challenges of post-pregnancy recovery.
‘Supposed to Give Them the Max!’: Distraught Florida Mother Loses It In Court After Son’s Killer Is Sentenced, Says Justice System Treated Victim Like ‘Piece of Trash’
An outraged Florida mother made an emotional outcry in court after her son’s killer was given the lowest possible sentence by a judge.
The gunman, 23-year-old Cemari Daniels, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jaleen Snead in 2021.
“Ain’t no way!” Deidre Wade, Snead’s mother, yelled in court after the sentence was read, according to The Palm Beach Post. “Ain’t no f—king way!”
Jaleen Snead was killed on Dec. 8, 2021. (Photo: Facebook/Hocus Pocus)Daniels fatally shot Snead in the back seat of a car on Dec. 8, 2021. Both were armed at the time, but accounts of what led up to the shooting varied.
During his trial, prosecutors argued that Daniels tried to rob Snead of his gun and shot him when the teen resisted. Daniels’ attorneys claimed that their client acted in self-defense. They said that Snead had been talking about a drive-by shooting, and when Daniels asked Snead to leave the car, Snead physically resisted and fired first.
A jury convicted Daniels of manslaughter in April. He was initially charged with murder.
For his manslaughter conviction, he faced a maximum of 30 years, plus another 15 for wounding another teenager in the shooting. Had he been convicted of murder, he could have been sentenced to life in prison.
Prosecutors asked for the max. Daniels’ defense attorneys requested a five-year sentence followed by 10 years of probation, arguing that the teens’ access to deadly weapons made the situation between them much more volatile.
During his sentencing on June 16, Daniels read a letter aloud to the judge, stating that he regrets what happened.
“I wish every day that I could change the outcome,” the letter said. “This experience has been life-changing and has taught me hard lessons I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”
Ultimately, the judge turned down both the prosecutors’ and defense attorneys’ sentencing requests and landed on a 12-year sentence for Daniels.
Snead’s mother, who was present for the sentencing hearing, raged at Daniels’ sentence.
“My 17-year-old son lost his life, and this what y’all do?” she yelled from the back of the courtroom, adding that the justice system treated her son like “a piece of trash” and gave his 23-year-old killer a “pat on the f—king back.”
“No, it’s not enough. This coming from a mother that lost two sons in the same year and her momma. I lost both of my kids six months apart! How the f—k you think I feel, bro?!” the mother shouted. “Y’all supposed to give them the max! They did the time, they did the crime, give them the time!”
During the hearing, the judge said, “The one thing we all agree on is that this is a terrible tragedy.”
Daniels’ grandmother, also present for the sentencing hearing, told reporters things “could have been worse.”
“It could have been the other way around,” she said. “It could have been Cemari instead of that guy.”
‘I’m Going in Hot with a Taser’: Footage Shows Baltimore Cops Kick Down Doors of Home Before Shooting 70-Year-Old In Need of Help. Even Police Commissioner Says They ‘Have a Long Way to Go’
A police shooting in Baltimore that claimed the life of a 70-year-old woman suffering a behavioral health crisis is raising questions about how law enforcement responds to 911 calls involving mental health emergencies.
Baltimore Police released the bodycam footage showing the moments two officers stormed 70-year-old Pytorcarcha Brooks’ home on June 25.
After one officer kicks in the door of Brooks’ home, his partner says, “I’m going in hot with a Taser.”
A Baltimore police officers confront Pytorcarcha Brooks in her home. (Photo: YouTube screenshot/WJZ)The video, obtained by The Baltimore Banner, then shows the officers breaking down another door inside the home to reveal Brooks standing in a hallway armed with a short knife. They shout multiple commands for her to get on the ground and drop the weapon.
She mutters, “Come on,” while holding up the weapon, then walks away.
As the officers step further into her home, still shouting commands, one officer deploys a Taser as Brooks approaches him, but the shocks only stun the 70-year-old momentarily.
Brooks then walks toward the officer with the Taser, who walks back, trips, and stumbles to the ground. Police say that Brooks charged at the officer with the knife, prompting his partner to fire two shots at her. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities said that the fatal encounter happened after police received two calls about Brooks earlier that day.
A social worker stopped by earlier to conduct a wellness check. After receiving no answer at the door, he called 911. A family member also called 911, stating that Brooks was violent, armed with a knife, and attempted to stab them.
More bodycam video shows a social worker trying to speak to Brooks through her locked back door as multiple police officers surround him. At the same time, the officers are on the phone with her family members, telling them they can’t force her to open the door and take her to the hospital if she doesn’t want to go.
But moments later, they reversed course.
After authorities fail to get Brooks to answer the door or speak with them, bodycam video shows a fire department employee at the scene approaching her door and stating, “I’m trying to be nice here, Miss Brooks. If you don’t answer my questions, I’m going to have to take you out of here.”
In a news conference, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley stated that the 97-degree heat that day in the city, the absence of electricity in Brooks’ home, and the odors coming from the home are likely the reasons law enforcement thought they needed to try to enter her house and get her to a hospital.
Investigators have yet to interview the responding police officers who kicked down the doors of Brooks’ home to get their reasons for breaching the home.
“This video, clearly, and other videos, not just here but throughout the country, have shown that we have a long way to go with behavioral crises,” Worleh said.
Worley said Brooks’ home has been the site of more than 20 calls for mental health issues this year.
Worley said that while his officers are trained on how to respond to mental and behavioral health episodes, the department still relies on mental health experts for the most appropriate responses.
“We give them the training to deal with this, but behavioral health is a medical issue that we have to address,” Worley said, per WJZ Investigates. “People who aren’t police officers have to help us address this by getting treatment for these individuals.”

— Brandon M. Scott (@MayorBMScott) July 10, 2025After learning about the 70-year-old’s death, a neighbor told news outlets she believed the shooting was preventable.
“Even if you shot her, could she be shot in the leg or the foot, in the arm, in the shoulder?” neighbor Janet Bailey said. “Where she had the knife and was coming down on ya’ll, couldn’t she have been shot in the shoulder? Did she have to be shot two times and killed…70 years old…I’m saying 70 years old.”
Brooks’ cousin, LaRae Taylor, said Brooks “was a sister, a mother, a cousin. She wasn’t just a ‘mental person.’ She was a human who loved.”
‘Looks Like Jeff Had a Bit Too Much Wedding Cake’: Jeff Bezos Appears ‘Larger’ Than Life In Photos with New Wife Lauren Sánchez Weeks After Lavish Wedding
The world is just going to have to accept Lauren Sánchez as she is. The former journalist never shied away from a little sex appeal, and if her latest fit is any clue, she isn’t about to start now.
Sánchez just made it back to the United States with her new husband, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, after they tied the knot on June 27 in Venice, Italy.
This week, the couple are getting back to business as they were seen attending the Allen & Co. Sun Valley Conference in Idaho on Thursday, July 10, for the annual conference where billionaires, tech and media moguls meet up, strike deals, and attend sessions to learn from each other.
It was no surprise her tech billionaire husband was by her side — but what really turned heads was what Sánchez decided to wear to the event.
Lauren Sánchez irritates fans after overexposing her cleavage at event for billionaires. (Photo: @laurenwsanchez/Instagram)At first glance, Sánchez’s look seems to fit an appropriate casual mood. She wore a black tank top and white high waisted pants with a black belt.
Bezos also took a laissez-faire approach to his attire, wearing a gray T-shirt and jeans. While the two seemed to match each other’s clothing style for the day, some people took issue with Sanchez’s exposed cleavage. Though the lower half of her bosom was covered, the top part was not only visible but also protruding out of the shirt.
Page Six posted photos of the couple walking hand in hand and smiling affectionately at each other. But the tabloid’s readers were laser-focused on Sánchez’s look.

One person commented, “Does she ever put them away?” while another said, “Always had those big huge boobs out.”
A third observer noted, “Marriage doesn’t have her dressing any better!”
The tech founder also caught some flak from critics who said, “Looks like Jeff had a bit too much wedding cake.”
Another noted, “Bozo is getting to look like an old man.”
A fourth fan shaded his Bezos’ wife with the speculation that she has had some cosmetic work done. They “I guess if you buy them you have to show them all the time – turtlenecks r probably never an option in the winter ….”

— Harry, Meghan’s Spare (@ViQueenie) June 28, 2025Sánchez has never publicly admitted to getting any type of plastic surgery or cosmetic enhancements. Even in photographs from her younger years, she never appeared to have a chest that was flat, so there is no strong evidence that she actually got surgery done.
One of the rare times she kept the girls covered up was on her wedding day.
She wore a white lace, long sleeved gown with a high collar. Around the sleeves, neck and chest area, however, the lace was sheer whereas the rest of the dress was made of lace with extra white material underneath. The Dolce & Gabbana custom gown had a mermaid-style silhouette at the bottom.
When talking to Vogue about the gown, she said that it was unique because it was the first time she wore a formal dress that was so covered up in the chest region.

She said, “It is a departure from what people expect, from what I expect — but it’s very much me.”
“It went from ‘I want a simple, sexy modern dress’ to ‘I want something that evokes a moment,’ and where I am right now.” Sánchez added, “I am a different person than I was five years ago.”
‘Help, Help, Help!’: Texas Student Fatally Stabbed 28 Times Over Dispute with 40-Year-Old Stranger She Was Forced to Live with— Now Her Parents Are Suing Student Housing Company
The family of a 23-year-old nursing student who was fatally stabbed in her Houston apartment this past spring is suing for $65 million, alleging that a housing provider failed to properly vet her roommate, who is now charged with her murder.
Elizabeth “Tami” Odunsi, a Texas Woman’s University student just days away from graduation, was stabbed nearly 30 times on April 26 at the Goforth Street apartment she shared with Chester Lamar Grant, 40. He has since been charged in connection with the slaying and remains in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $500,000.
Family of 23-year-old student Elizabeth “Tami” Odunsi is fighting for justice after she was murdered. (Credit: Family Photo)“She was quite literally at the finishing line,” her younger sister, Georgina Odunsi, said during a Tuesday news conference announcing the lawsuit, according to the Houston Chronicle.
According to attorneys Jonathan Cox and Troy Pradia, about two months before her death, Odunsi and Grant were matched as roommates by the off-campus housing company For a Place to Live. The company, which bills itself as a student housing provider, allegedly outsourced background checks to a third-party screening firm, SafeRent Solutions — both are named as defendants in the action.
Cox said Grant had multiple prior convictions, including at least one felony related to domestic violence in Washington state.
“It’s unconscionable that this company would place this 40-year-old man with past criminal history, violent criminal history, with Tami, who was 23 years old,” he said.
Court documents show Odunsi was found dead in her apartment after police were called for a welfare check around 3:50 p.m. Officers spotted blood on the back patio, giving them probable cause to force their way in.
Inside, they found Odunsi with 28 stab wounds lying on the kitchen floor. Grant was discovered injured in a nearby bedroom and was hospitalized in critical condition. Police say he had attempted to take his own life.
Just days before the stabbing, Odunsi reported feeling unsafe. According to the family’s lawsuit, Grant had attacked her during a dispute over their cats — knocking her phone out of her hand, threatening her life, and pouring an unknown liquid on her face. She filed a police report and reached out to the housing company for help, but the meeting she arranged with them was reportedly canceled.
“She did all the right things,” Pradia said.
Odunsi’s mother, Adenike Odunsi, said her daughter called her on the day of the killing, frightened to return home. As she approached the door, she noticed her shoes had been filled with feces. On the call, Adenike said she heard her daughter ask Grant about the incident, then scream, “Help, help, help,” before the line went dead.
“We didn’t just lose Tami; she was stolen from us,” Georgina said, fighting tears. “A part of our family is missing and dare I say, the glue that held our family together is missing. We will forever love Tami, and we will never stop saying her name.”
Grant was arrested on May 3 and charged with murder. At his bond hearing, a Harris County judge described the case as “an allegedly extremely brutal murder with an extensive history of violence, which I find to be an extreme danger to the community.”
Georgina Odunsi traveled from the U.K. to announce the lawsuit. “The amount of trauma that my family and I have experienced is unfair,” she said. “The ringing noise in my ear that began as soon as I heard the news has not stopped since, and I fear it never will.”
Odunsi was awarded a posthumous Bachelor of Science in Nursing during TWU’s May commencement ceremony, accepted by her family.
Odunsi had over 48,000 TikTok followers, where she shared updates about her nursing school journey under the name Tami Dollars. A GoFundMe campaign described her as “a beautiful soul, full of light, ambition, and kindness,” and “a God-fearing young woman” who came to the U.S. from Europe to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse.
Her father, John Odunsi, told The Times of London that he is considering legal action against police and the landlord, claiming authorities had visited the apartment in the past and that the housing company should have flagged Grant’s violent history.
“If there are failings, we will take legal action … I feel failed by the police from what I’ve heard,” he said. “The landlord should’ve done the necessary checks on the tenant who was staying with my daughter. I don’t know what sort of vetting was done on the roommate — that’s what we’re trying to ascertain — but unfortunately it won’t bring back my lovely daughter.”
Both For a Place to Live and SafeRent Solutions did not respond to repeated requests for comment, according to multiple sources.
‘That’s Jada Pinkett’s Son’: Fans Concerned Jaden Smith Is Going Through a ‘Crisis’ Like His Dad After Zooming on His Appearance In New Video
Jaden Smith, 27, stepped out in Calabasas, Los Angeles in a polarizing outfit that has the internet talking.
The son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith was seen wearing a large white t-shirt and oversized black shorts, with his striped boxer briefs visible underneath.
In addition, the former child actor rocked a black snapback cap decorated with oversized pearls. He finished the look off with a Supreme belt, white socks, and black loafers.
Jaden Smith’s 1990s-esque clothing choice has ignited a heated conversation on the internet. (Photo credit: @c.syresmith/Instagram)Comedian Aries Spears took issue with Jaden’s outfit and expressed his frustration on social media.
“Listen, y’all can call me whatever [you] want, this dude is the biggest [clown] on the planet!” Spears wrote in the caption for a video of Jaden shared by the Whoopsee TikTok page. “Even if I came from money as a child, my parents would not allow me to look like that. The sagging is just stupid.”
Social media users had plenty to say about Jaden’s outfit — with some slamming him, while others came to his defense.
“This can’t be the same kid Jackie Chan was teaching,” read one top comment, referring to Jaden’s co-star who played Mr. Han in the martial arts movie “The Karate Kid” from 2010.
“Bro sagging with church shoes on,” joked one Instagram user. An enraged commenter wrote, “The belt not even being used actually makes me mad.”

One critic pointed the finger at Will and Jada, writing, “Thats @jadapinkettsmith kid.” Another person added, “Like father, like son.”
Another said, “Him and his dad going through midlife crisis. Looks stupid with those shorts sagging and dumb ass shoes.”
Many suggested Jaden’s behavior is part of a larger pattern, with one user comparing it to how Rich kids say hello to each other.
Spears caught heat, too. One fan of the “Icon” rapper fired back, “Y’all hating on that brother. Stop it.”
Another defender focused on 1990s and 2000s-era fashion by posting, “20-25 years ago, everyone was sagging, lol.”
All The Weird Shit You’ve Ever Seen Me Do Was Me Thinking I Was Totally Normal, So Now Sometimes I Try To Act Weird On Purpose So Yall Think It’s On Purpose, But At The End Of The Day I’ve Been Trying To Fit In This Whole Time And I Guess It’s Not Exactly Going To Plan.
— Jaden (@jaden) October 20, 2024Jaden’s parent first connected in the 1990s. Will and Jada met on the set of the classic television series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which ran from 1990 to 1996.
Will rose to A-list status as the lead character of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” sitcom. At the same time, Jada was establishing herself with roles in “A Different World” and “Set It Off.”
Jada and Will got married on December 31, 1997. Jaden was born in 1998. He turned 27 on July 8. His younger sister, singer Willow Smith, arrived on October 31, 2000.
Since tying the knot, Will and Jada have faced countless rumors about the state of their relationship. Jada eventually revealed they are still officially married but began living separate lives in 2016.
The kids’ upbringing was admittedly unconventional but Jaden’s recent behavior in Paris with a friend has begun to spark concern.
Besides being the offspring of two rich Hollywood insiders, their parents chose a child-rearing strategy that Will has reflectively cautioned against after Jaden and Willow became adults.
“We made a very, very, very terrible mistake with our children, and we went with radical honesty. Don’t do it. I’m not advocating for it,” a laughing Will warned on the British radio show “Heart Breakfast” in June 2025.
While fans quarrelled over Jaden’s offbeat fashion sense, his dad has remained a lightning rod topic online as well. A recent public appearance led to concerns that Will is experiencing a “mid-life crisis.”
The Grammy Award-winning recording artist from Philadelphia performed his new single “Girls” outside in London, surrounded by a mostly motionless large crowd of spectators.
A music video for the pop-rap record dropped in June. The release of the woman-filled visuals led to more accusations that Will’s self-described “bad marriage for life” with Jada has him wanting to relive his youth.
‘I Will Kill You’: Trump Supporter Who Threatened to Murder Letitia James and Judge Over President’s Fraud Case Gets Slap on the Wrist
A man who threatened to kill New York Attorney General Letitia James and a state supreme court judge who presided over a high-profile civil case against President Donald Trump just got off almost scot-free.
After pleading to a lesser charge of second-degree aggravated harassment, Tyler J. Vogel of Lancaster, a Buffalo suburb, was sentenced to one year of conditional discharge, according to Law & Crime.
Vogel pleaded guilty in April of 2024 to one felony count of making a terroristic threat and a misdemeanor count of making a threat of mass harm against James and Judge Arthur Engoron.
Tyler J. Vogel (YouTube screenshot/WIVB)The 27-year-old sent text messages in March of 2024 to James and Engoron threatening “death and physical harm if they did not cease action” against President Donald Trump, the Associated Press reported.
He was referring to a plan to seize Trump Tower and other property after Engoron ruled against Trump and his sons, Don Jr. and Eric Trump, and Trump CEO Allen Weisselberg, deciding they owed more than $350 million for lying about Trump companies’ finances.
Vogel used a paid online background website to gather private details about James and Engoron, state police said, confirming “intentions to follow through with the threats were his demands not met.”
Vogel told James, according to Law & Crime, that he was giving her “fair warning” that she was “not to permanently steal Donald Trumps assets or his property.”
“Furthermore, you are not to imprison Donald Trump,” he wrote.
After he was first arrested, the Erie County DA at the time, John Flynn, said Vogel was facing up to seven years in prison if convicted on the charges.
Vogel also told James and the judge that he would defend himself with “deadly force” and would also use the same against them.
In a text message to James, he said he had a “whole wall of deadly weapons” he could use.
“Mark my words I will kill you if you even dare to permanently steal Donald Trumps assets or his property,” Vogel also said.
Erie County District Attorney Michael Keane allowed Vogel to enter interim probation and ordered him to comply with state mental health court mandates last year. Once he completed the requirements, he was allowed to withdraw his plea on the felony charge and plead to the lesser misdemeanor count, according to the AP.
Officials said Vogel successfully completed the program.
“In addition to leading a law-abiding life, the defendant was also ordered to continue with counseling as a condition of his sentence,” prosecutors said in a statement this week.
“As part of the sentencing proceeding, final orders of protection were issued on behalf of the victims, which remain in effect for the next five years.”
Trump was convicted last year of 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of a hush money plan to kill stories about his sex life during his first presidential run in 2016. It’s the first time in history that a sitting or former president has been convicted on criminal charges.
James filed a civil lawsuit against Trump, his adult sons, and the Trump Organization, accusing them of committing business fraud for over a decade. The lawsuit claims they repeatedly inflated the value of assets to get better loan and insurance deals, then deflated those same assets to avoid paying higher taxes.
In early 2024, a New York judge ruled that Trump, his sons, and former executives were liable for fraud and ordered them to pay more than $450 million in penalties. The ruling also banned Trump and his sons from serving as officers or directors of any New York company or obtaining loans from New York financial institutions for three years.
Trump has appealed the judgment, but the penalties and restrictions remain in place while the appeal is pending. LetiJames has said she will not reduce or drop the judgment. Trump, in turn, claims the case is politically motivated, while James insists it is based on clear evidence and legal violations. The case has added fuel to the ongoing tensions between the two and marks one of the most serious civil fraud cases ever brought against a former U.S. president.
‘She Is the Whole Package’: Simone Biles Attempts to Cover Up In New Vacation Photos Amid Criticism About Her Recent Transformation
Simone Biles seems to have covered up in her latest vacation photos, a stark contrast to last year’s revealing bikini shots.
Now, after facing criticism and rumors of post-Olympics body enhancements, fans are wondering if Simone Biles’ toned-down look is hiding more than just skin.
Simone Biles has covered up in recent vacation photos after bikini shots sparked cosmetic surgery speculation.(Photo by Unique Nicole/Getty Images)The seven-time Olympic gold medalist’s recent Instagram posts with husband Jonathan Owens show a deliberate shift toward more conservative outfits, suggesting the gymnastics icon is responding to the intense scrutiny that erupted online when critics dissected various bikini photos she posted online.
Some believe Biles might have gotten some work done on her chest due to he gymnastics icon’s Instagram feed.
She sparked a frenzy after sharing a few images filled with scenic views, local eats, and laid-back moments from her trip to San Pedro, Belize.
But the most recent image showed Biles in a black mini dress that covered her top half during an evening out with Owens, with the caption “it’s a forever thing baby.”
The comments on both of these recent posts were limited, therefore only a handful of comments were filtered through. The few on each post were encouraging messages like “Class 100%” and “My ppl,” suggesting Biles may be curating her comment sections more carefully amid the heightened attention.

But it was two bikini posts from earlier this week— one in lime green in her story, the other by Fendi on the profile — that had folks taken by surprise.
Zoomed-in screenshots quickly made their rounds online, sparking heavy speculation about possible cosmetic surgery as fans pointed out what they believed were noticeable changes in her appearance.
In response to the buzz surrounding her posts, followers have been vocal in their support and admiration.

“You so fine baby wheeewww,” wrote her NFL safety husband in the comments, while fans chimed in with enthusiastic praise.
A day after the initial bikini shots that set the internet ablaze, Biles’ subsequent posts have featured more conservative styling choices.
In one fishing excursion photo, she opted for daisy duke shorts paired with a full black swimsuit that covered her midsection, captioning the post “catch of the day.”
Many online have quickly pointed out her “Obvious implants,” with one person writing, “but if she did get enhancement I would say she is not going to enter the 28 Olympics.”
In the comment section of a YouTube post, another added, “Changing her body like that would defintely change her finely tuned abilities in her sport.”
A third individual wrote, “One look at that first picture and all doubt whether she got work done is gone. It’s her body so who cares?”
A more positive commentator said, “Good lord her husband is a handsome dude. She is the whole package too!”
People are losing their minds over Simone Biles apparent boob job. (Before in 2022 vs current)

Biles previously has been open about her relationship with cosmetic procedures.
The 28-year-old previously shared a cautionary tale about a negative experience with Botox that ultimately influenced her approach to such treatments.
She described how the procedure caused unexpected facial muscle reactions during gymnastics practice, with her eyebrow involuntarily rising at random moments. The experience was frustrating enough that she declared she would never repeat the treatment.
The timing of the speculation comes as Biles continues to navigate questions about her competitive future.
Having dominated women’s gymnastics in the Paris Olympics and secured her 11th Olympic medal, many assumed she would retire at the peak of her success. However, the gymnastics legend has kept the door open for a potential return to competition, teasing “never say never” when asked about the 2028 Los Angeles Games, though she acknowledged her advancing age in the sport.
Despite the online chatter about her appearance, Biles seems focused on enjoying her well-deserved downtime with Owens.
The speculation surrounding Biles’ appearance reflects broader conversations about body autonomy and the intense scrutiny faced by female athletes, particularly women of color in the public eye. As she continues to share moments from her vacation, her choice to cover up may signal a desire to shift focus away from her physical appearance and back to the joy and love she’s experiencing during this chapter of her life.
‘Distraught’: Pregnant Vermont Woman Spent Night In Jail After Cops Arrested Her for a Crime She Didn’t Commit — All Because an Officer Wrote Down the Wrong Birthday, Lawsuit Says
It took three years after obtaining an arrest warrant before Vermont cops arrested a pregnant woman on charges that she sold heroin to another woman who overdosed and died.
But the cops still got it wrong, arresting the wrong woman who shared the same name but different birthdate than the woman they were supposed to arrest.
Now the innocent woman they arrested, Alicia M. Kelley, has filed a lawsuit against Brattleboro Police Lieutenant Greg Eaton who was a sergeant when he applied for the warrant back in 2019 before another law enforcement agency used the warrant to make the arrest in 2022.
Brattleoro Police Lieutenant Greg Eaton is being sued for writing the wrong birthdate on an arrest warrant for a woman accused of selling heroin to another woman, resulting in that woman’s death, leading to the arrest of an innocent pregnant woman. (Photo: facebook.com/brattleboro.police)Three years later, police have yet to arrest the real Alicia M. Kelley who was captured on video selling heroin to a Dunkin’ Donuts employee inside the store who was then found inside the bathroom with a needle in her arm.
The employee, Brianna Radcliffe, died three days later at a local hospital, according to the lawsuit filed June 30 in federal court by Vermont attorney Brian Marsicovetere.
The defendant (Eaton), at the time the arrest warrant application was submitted, had access to pictures of plaintiff (Alicia M. Kelley) and (suspect) Alicia M. Kelley through at least one of the following sources: Department of Motor Vehicle license photos; State of Vermont and municipal databases; The Vermont Department of Corrections and social media.
The defendant did not attempt to confirm that he had the correct date of birth for Alicia M. Kelley before he applied for the arrest warrant.
The defendant never examined or compared a photo of plaintiff to a photo of Alicia M. Kelley that he identified in the arrest warrant application.
Although photos of either woman are not publicly available, the real suspect was born on May 16, 1988, while the woman who ended up arrested was born on October 25, 1988, – an overlooked detail that led to the arrest of a pregnant innocent woman on felony charges.
The lawsuit accuses Eaton of violating Kelley’s Fourth Amendment rights through unlawful seizure when he wrote the wrong birthdate on the warrant application.
Defendant engaged in willful of reckless conduct when he obtained a warrant for plaintiff’s arrest without confirming that he had the correct date of birth for Alicia M. Kelley. No reasonable police officer could justify such conduct under the circumstances.
As a direct and proximate cause of said conduct, plaintiff was unlawfully arrested and sustained loss of liberty, mental anguish, humiliation, embarrassment, and expenses to be proven at trial.
Botched InvestigationRadcliffe was found inside the Dunkin’ Donuts bathroom with the needle in her arm on June 8, 2018 and Eaton, then a sergeant, began investigating the case.
Eaton reviewed surveillance footage from inside the store showing the drug transaction and the store’s manager informed him that the woman selling the drugs was a former employee named Alicia M. Kelley.
But the lawsuit states that Eaton did not apply for an arrest warrant until May 20, 2019 which was approved by a judge from the Vermont Superior Court the following day.
The lawsuit does not explain why it took Eaton almost a year to apply for the warrant after learning the identity of the suspect but when he finally did, he listed the birthdate of the wrong Alicia M. Kelley on his application.
The lawsuit also does not explain why it took another three years to serve the warrant on the wrong Alicia M. Kelley but she was living in North Troy which is in Orleans County, more than two hours away from Brattleboro which is in Windham County.
The lawsuit states that Orleans County Sheriff Jennifer Harlow and a deputy arrived at Kelley’s house on July 13, 2022, and arrested her in front of her parents and two minor children.
Kelley, who was visibly pregnant, became “distraught, panicked and was brought to tears,” the claim states.
Her parents also became upset, insisting there must be some mistake but Kelley was arrested and spent the night in jail with her bail set at $25,000.
Adding insult to injury, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office “posted a statement containing details of the arrest on social media which was viewed by members of plaintiff’s community.”
It was not until the following day that prosecutors realized the mistaken birthdate and dropped the charges against Kelley.
“The state further moved to modify the date of birth on the arrest warrant to reflect the correct one for the Alicia M. Kelley who was and remains wanted in connection with Ms. Radcliffe’s death,” the claim states.
‘You’re Beautiful Already, Filter Not Needed’: Ayesha Curry’s New Look In Photos Has Fans Begging Her to Lay Off the Filters
Steph Curry’s wife Ayesha Curry is often praised for her natural glow, but her latest Instagram post has fans questioning whether that radiance is real — or just the result of a heavy filter.
In a July 9 post, the mother of four shared a glimpse of her time at the Sandz Caribbean Music Festival. Curry shared four photos of herself having what appears to be a fun girls day at the event.
She was there to promote her Sweet July skin care line, however, some fans couldn’t get past what they described as unnecessary edits to her photos.
Ayesha Curry gets called out for using filters in her fun music fest photos. (Photo: @ayeshacurry/Instagram)Curry’s first photo was a car-selfie of herself looking directly into the camera with a model-esque glare. She went for a simple outfit that included denim shorts, a white tank top and a brown bucket hat. Her makeup had an effortless neutral look complemented by glossy lips, but her skin had a glowy look to it.
In the second and third photos, she transitioned from her picture-perfect selfie to more personality photos. The 36-year-old can be seen holding her tongue out while riding on a mechanical bull and smiling next to a friend, stylist Sheraine Robinson, who appeared to have attended the event with Curry.
At first glance, Curry’s fourth photo looks like a simple snapshot of her outfit. But she strategically tagged her skin care page next to the lip gloss she was wearing on her belt loop, an extra move to promote the lip product.
In the caption, she wrote, “Unfiltered glossed lips and link ups with your bestie make for the perfect @sweetjulyskin combo. Wearing my LYCHEE lip treatment! Avail in just a couple days. Follow @sweetjulyskin for all of the launch details and some giveaways. #mommywenttosandz.”
View this post on InstagramA post shared by Ayesha Curry (@ayeshacurry)
The term “unfiltered” seemingly struck a nerve with some who did not let Curry slide.
“It says unfiltered but 1st picture looks like it is. You’re beautiful already, filter not needed,” said one person in her comments.
Two others said, “The pic with her is filtered quit lying” and “The filter is so obvious though.”
Yes some stuck to their guns about Curry using other methods, writing, “No filter but definitely edited haha.”
Another fan who wasn’t buying it said, “unfiltered?! be so fr. PLZ.”
This isn’t the first time Curry has been accused of using filters on her pictures or that fans have been suspicious about whether she edits her photos. But the entrepreneur has yet to share her secrets on how she gets her pictures to have that glossy finish.
As of late she’s been focused on promoting the new lip treatment she has coming out from her skin care brand. The product drops on Saturday, July 12, and comes in three different flavors.
‘Do Not Want Someone Like Her’: White Virginia Councilmembers Accused of Plotting to Oust Black Official for Not ‘Looking Like’ a City Manager, Sparks Explosive Council Meeting
The former city manager of Hopewell, Virginia, has filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit and is demanding her job back after accusing white city council members of racism and wrongful termination.
Concetta Manker made history in 2023 when she became the city’s first woman and first Black city manager.
“Two years later, however, the City made a different kind of history — a historical act of illegal and unlawful behavior,” according to a federal lawsuit Manker filed against the city and four white council members. “On May 1, 2025, using maneuvers that were blatantly illegal under the governing procedural rules, the City, through its white councilors, unlawfully terminated Dr. Manker as the City Manager and did so based on her race. Indeed, the 4-to-3 termination vote fell strictly along racial lines.”
Concetta Manker is the former city manager for Hopewell, Virginia. (Photo: Facebook/Concetta Manker/WRIC TV Screengrab)Manker is suing for $6.85 million “over deliberate acts of racial discrimination and conflicts of interest by the White majority on council,” according to The Progress-Index.
The five-count lawsuit was filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Richmond. It names Councillors Ronnie Ellis and Susan Daye, and Mayor Johnny Partin Jr. and Vice Mayor Rita Joyner. The suit accuses them of violation of “liberty interests,” defamation and conflict of interest in terminating Manker on May 1. It also contends Manker was denied due process in challenging her firing.
Manker, who has a doctorate in applied management and decision sciences, is demanding immediate reinstatement on the grounds that the council violated Roberts Rules of Order, which govern the council’s actions.
The city council initially tried to terminate Manker during a meeting in February “without cause,” according to her attorney Richard Hawkins.
Hawkins pointed to a section of Roberts Rules of Order, which “governs the Council’s actions,” and “must be moved either on the same day the original vote was taken or on the next succeeding day within the same session on which a business meeting is held,” he said in a letter reported on by WRIC-TV.
Since Manker wasn’t technically fired until May 1, there was a nearly three-month gap, which violates Roberts Rules of Order, Hawkins said.
“No such reconsideration motions, however, were made at either of those times,” said Hawkins, referencing the Feb. 12 council meeting when a vote to fire Manker failed in a 3-3 tie, and another meeting on Feb. 19.
“Instead, the motion was made almost three months later. This delay nullifies the May 1 motion on its face, and it renders the Council’s subsequent termination vote wholly invalid.”
The council fired Manker after a 4-3 council vote along racial lines on May 1, which Manker called “racially motivated.”
Manker contends she’s had a positive impact on the city, but that its four white councilors moved to terminate her employment because of her race, and one of them allegedly said she was “Blacking up” Hopewell during her tenure, according to WRIC-TV.
Manker is separately suing Joyner for defamation over an email she reportedly sent to a constituent in August 2024, WRIC reported. In that email, she described Manker as “incompetent” and claimed she “thwarted [Joyner] at every twist and turn.”
“Joyner’s criticism did not come from a place of good faith,” the lawsuit states. “Instead, it was part and parcel of her stated beliefs that Dr. Manker did not ‘look like’ a City Manager and ‘we do not want someone like her’ running our City, statements that were interpreted by the listener as racist in nature.”
The lawsuit also describes an interaction Black City Councilor Dominic Holloway said he had with Joyner. Holloway accused Joyner in that conversation of saying Manker was “Blacking up” the city of Hopewell by hiring Black employees.
Manker’s attorney, Hawkins, in the previously mentioned letter, called the May 1 vote “an obviously improper motion” and “the kind of abusive circumstance that the timeliness requirement is required to protect.”
And other Hopewell residents agreed.
“I’ll tell you right now, y’all are the four most disgusting individuals in this city, and you all need to step down from your positions,” one man said after the council vote, WWBT-TV reported. He was referring to the white council members who all voted to terminate Manker. The outburst was met with resounding applause and standing ovations as council members looked on.
Police also escorted people out of the emotional meeting. The council upset some people when it rejected a request by another councilmember to put forth a motion to allow the community to voice its opinion on Manker’s future.
Hawkins also said one of the council members, City Battalion Chief Ronnie Ellis, did not have “legal standing to make the motion” to fire Manker.
Not only did Ellis not cast a vote in February, but his vote in May is considered a conflict of interest because he serves as both a city councilor and a Hopewell fire battalion chief. At one point he was both Manker’s superior and her subordinate, respectively. Manker contends in her lawsuit that he should have recused himself from the vote.
She is also accusing Ellis of using a racist dog whistle. A dog whistle is like a secret code that doesn’t seem racist but has another meaning, in his campaign for Hopewell City Council, in which he allegedly targeted Manker.
In an interview in 2023 before Manker was appointed city manager, Ellis said Hopewell shouldn’t “micromanage” its city managers and instead “allow [them] to run the city and oversee city staff,” WRIC reported.
“On the other hand, for the 2024 election, when Dr. Manker was serving as the full-time City Manager for the City, Ellis made no such ‘hands off’ remarks about the City Manager,” the lawsuit states. “Instead, he distributed a campaign flyer that contained the racist dog-whistle phrase ‘we need to take our city back.’”
Hopewell’s city attorney, Anthony Bessette, warned the council not to vote on terminating Manker on May 1, but they ignored the advice.
“While the Council majority’s use of tortured procedural gymnastics to terminate Dr. Manker was by itself illegal, it also revealed the true motive for the vote: racism,” according to the lawsuit.
“The 4-3 vote along racial lines was no accident. It was the direct result of racial enmity against Dr. Manker that had been brewing since the very beginning of her tenure (and even before), and it was the inevitable outcome given the racist attitudes of one or more of the white members of the Council majority.”
Neither Hawkins nor Manker is saying anything more about the case at this time. Bessette told The Progress-Index that the city is aware of the lawsuit but that no one has been officially served.
“The city will respond in due course,” Bessette said.
Before she was officially hired as the city’s manager in 2023, Manker served a year as interim manager.
‘Sharon Looks So Ill’: Sharon Osbourne’s Jaw-Dropping Appearance at Ozzy Concert Has Fans Zooming In Following Concerns Over Her Gaunt Face
What was meant to be a picture-perfect family moment for one of rock ’n’ roll’s biggest families has turned into an unexpected spotlight on the matriarch’s new look.
Sharon Osbourne stood out in a video of her daughter Kelly’s surprise engagement ceremony at her father Ozzy’s farewell Black Sabbath concert.
Online observers were less focused on Kelly’s ring and her emotional reaction as they shifted gears to notice dramatic physical changes in her mother’s face.
Social media users became fixated on Sharon Osbourne’s post-Ozempic appearance in a new video taken at her daughter’s marriage proposal. (Photo by Tara Ziemba/WireImage)The historic farewell concert took place at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, featuring an all-star lineup including Steven Tyler, Metallica, and Guns N’ Roses before Ozzy and Black Sabbath took the stage together for the first time in two decades.
The emotional evening, attended by 42,000 fans, served as both a musical milestone and a charitable endeavor, with all proceeds benefiting Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice. Ozzy, who lives with Parkinson’s disease, performed from a black leather chair while commanding the massive crowd with his legendary presence.
It was during this monumental show that Kelly’s boyfriend, Sid Wilson of Slipknot, chose to pop the question in front of the entire Osbourne clan and concert crew.
Wilson, 48, had been planning the proposal for months, according to TMZ.
When the outlet shared screenshots from Kelly’s Instagram video of the proposal, social media users immediately zeroed in on Sharon’s appearance rather than the celebration itself.
Fans zoomed in on Sharon’s dramatically altered facial features in the proposal footage, analyzing her appearance rather than celebrating the engagement. (@tmz_tv/Instagram)Comments flooded the post with concern and criticism about her noticeably gaunt frame and altered features.
“Sharon looks so ill,” wrote one observer, while another commented, “Sharon looks insane.”
The scrutiny intensified as users connected her appearance to her well-documented weight loss journey, with one person writing, “Is Sharon ok my goodness she went too far with the Ozempic.”
Sharon’s dramatic transformation stems from her experience with the popular weight loss medication, which she allegedly began using in December 2022 and discontinued in April 2023.
During those four months, the former talk show host lost 42 pounds and has since struggled to regain much of the weight. Her journey with Ozempic became a cautionary tale that she openly shared, warning others about the medication’s effects and her difficulty in returning to a healthier weight after stopping the treatment.

— Granit (@granqito) January 7, 2024The medication’s impact on Sharon extended beyond just weight loss, affecting her overall appearance in ways that became more pronounced in the concert footage.
Her naturally thin frame made her previous cosmetic procedures more noticeable, leading to additional commentary about her plastic surgery history.
“One too many facelifts for Sharon,” observed another Instagram comment, while others took a broader view of the family’s appearance.
Despite the online chatter about her appearance, Sharon expressed nothing but joy about Kelly’s engagement to Wilson, telling TMZ that she and Ozzy were “over the moon” about the news. The proud mother made it clear that she hopes for “a lot more babies” from the couple, who already share a young son named Sidney. Sharon’s enthusiasm for the engagement reflected her genuine happiness for her daughter, who had found love with someone the family has known for over two decades.
Sharon told the outlet that Wilson told her months earlier about his proposal plan, but they kept it a surprise. Kelly, who’s known Wilson since his band toured with Ozzfest in 1999, said yes as her father jokingly interjected with his characteristic humor.
When Wilson started off saying, “Kelly, you know I love you more than anything in the world,” Ozzy interrupted, “F–k off, you’re not marrying my daughter.”
‘Racist and Wrong!’: Trump Slammed for ‘Peak Ignorance’ After ‘Blatantly Offensive’ Remark to African Leader During White House Meeting
President Donald Trump was surprised Wednesday to hear the Liberian president speak fluent English, even though it’s Liberia’s official language.
In a room filled with African heads of state, each speaking through interpreters and headsets, Liberian President Joseph Boakai didn’t need equipment or a translator. He spoke clearly in perfect English.
That’s when the president leaned in with admiration—and a question that drew criticism around the world.
“Where did you learn to speak so beautifully?” Trump asked.

President Boakai had just finished praising Trump’s leadership and expressed a desire to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
“Liberia is a longtime friend of the United States, and we believe in your policy of making America great again,” Boakai told Trump. “We just want to thank you so much for this opportunity.”
Trump responded warmly to Boakai, but the president seemed clueless that Liberia was established by the United States as a nation for freed Black Americans.
“Such good English,” Trump said. “Where did you learn to speak so beautifully? Where? Were you educated? Where?”
Boakai began speaking, but Trump interrupted, marveling aloud: “In Liberia? Well, that’s very interesting. That’s beautiful English. I have people at this table who can’t speak nearly as well.”
A few nervous chuckles in the room broke the tension.
To some, Trump’s remarks sounded like a casual compliment. But to others, it revealed a glaring lack of understanding about the long and deep historical relationship between the United States and Liberia—a country whose government and constitution were modeled after America’s, and where English has been the dominant language since the 19th century.
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, of Texas, called Trump out in real time for “peak ignorance.”
“Trump never misses an opportunity to be racist and wrong, and every day he finds a new way to be embarrassing. Asking the President of Liberia where he learned English when it’s literally the official language is peak ignorance,” she said in a post on social media. “I’m pretty sure being blatantly offensive is not how you go about conducting diplomacy.”
Michelle Gavin, a former senior director for Africa at the National Security Council under President Barack Obama, called the episode “embarrassing.” She told The New York Times the exchange suggested “very little preparation for this meeting,” and that the message it sent to Liberians was that Trump “did not seem to be aware of the historical relationship between their countries.”
That historical relationship goes back to 1822, when the American Colonization Society—a mix of abolitionists, philanthropists, and slaveholders—helped establish Liberia as a colony for freed Black Americans. Liberia declared independence in 1847, adopting a constitution based largely on the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Today, while several Indigenous languages are spoken, English remains the official national language.
Despite that, Trump’s question struck a nerve for many Liberians.
“I felt insulted because our country is an English-speaking country,” Archie Tamel Harris, a Liberian youth advocate, told CNN. “For him to ask that question, I don’t see it as a compliment. I feel that the US president and people in the West still see Africans as people in villages who are not educated.”
The odd exchange led some critics to question whether Trump was once again using dog whistles and racial innuendo to rile up his base, particularly far-right extremists who have remained loyal to him, especially after his Jan. 6 pardons earlier this year.
A Liberian diplomat, speaking anonymously to CNN, said the remark “was not appropriate,” and described it as “a bit condescending to an African president who’s from an English-speaking nation.”
South African politician Veronica Mente asked on social media, “What stops [Boakai] from standing up and leav[ing]?”
Outrage spilled onto social media, where Trump walked into a hornet’s nest of brutal one-liners over what many saw as a slight against the Liberian president.
“He’s ignorant af,” one critic wrote in response to a clip of the exchange posted to Instagram by Atlanta Black Star.

“This simpleton always embarrasses us,” someone else wrote.
The blistering commentary came at Trump like a flurry of jabs and uppercuts.
“His mouth is just a fly catcher at this point,” one person quipped.
“Just goes to show that you can have low social skills and a low IQ and become president,” another man observed.
Still, the Trump administration defended the president’s words.
Massad Boulos, Trump’s senior adviser for Africa—and the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany—told CNN, “I was in the meeting, and everyone was deeply appreciative of the president’s time and effort. The continent of Africa has never had such a friend in the White House as they do in President Trump.”
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly echoed that defense, calling Trump’s words “a heartfelt compliment” and dismissing the controversy as “fake news.”
“Reporters should recognize that President Trump has already done more to restore global stability and uplift countries in Africa and around the world than Joe Biden did in four years,” Kelly said.
Liberia’s own foreign minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, downplayed the incident.
“There was no offense,” she told the network, adding that “many people do not understand the linguistic borders or linguistic demography of the African continent.”
“What President Trump heard distinctly was the American influence on our English in Liberia, and the Liberian president is not offended by that,” Nyanti said. “We know that English has different accents and forms, and so him picking up the distinct intonation that has its roots in American English for us was just recognizing a familiar English version.”
Trump has a history of commenting on the speaking skills of foreign leaders. At a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump once complimented Merz’s “good English” and jokingly asked if it was as good as his German. Merz replied with a laugh, saying he tries “to understand almost everything” and speaks English “as good as I can.”
Still, for many critics, the moment with Boakai carried more weight because of Trump’s previous rhetoric, denouncing Africa. In 2018, he infamously referred to African nations as “sh—hole countries.”
When South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the White House back in May, Trump echoed false claims that white South African farmers were facing genocide — a narrative he used to justify changes to his immigration policy that welcomed white Afrikaners into the U.S., even as lifelong, law-abiding migrants of color are being deported in growing numbers.
On Wednesday, Trump appeared to have changed his tune, describing all African nations as “very vibrant places with very valuable land, great minerals, great oil deposits, and wonderful people.”
The African leaders, in turn, offered praise of their own, asking Trump to consider greater investment in their countries’ natural resources and infrastructure.
Boakai remained focused on business and did not appear offended by Trump’s remarks. Later that day, the White House posted a photo of Boakai and Trump smiling together in the Oval Office.

— The White House (@WhiteHouse) July 9, 2025‘What Is Going on with Her Arms?’: Lauren Sánchez’s Glam Look Sparks Questions After Fans Fixate on the Veins in Her Arm
Lauren Sánchez continues to be under a spotlight but not always for reasons she might want.
The former journalist who married Amazon founder Jeff Bezos last month became a major gossip target when her relationship with the billionaire became public, and that kind of attention can come with the price of ridicule and criticism.
On Tuesday, July 8, Sánchez was seen partying in Paris with some celebrity friends when she was captured by paparazzi as she stepped out for the evening in a cherry red Versace leather dress that had a draping skirt. She paired it with black heels and brought along a black purse as an accessory.
Lauren Sanchez’s minidress becomes the subject of more ridicule after stepping out for a fun night in Paris. (Photo: Instagram/ @laurenwsanchez)Sánchez linked up with models Brooks Nader and her younger sister Sarah Jane Nader that evening, when the three ladies eventually went to a restaurant called Lapérouse.
Academy award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio was also present, but it is unclear whether he was there to hang out with the trio or not.
One X user posted a paparazzi shot of Bezos’ new wife coming out of the restaurant with a fierce facial expression and her hand up, leaving many zooming on her appearance.
One person said, “All I see are the fake lips & fake boobs.”
Sanchez has never confirmed or denied any rumors of cosmetic enhancements, but comparisons of earlier photos of her with current ones have left fans speculating that she’s had some work done. She often gets accusations of receiving lip filler, as some people believe her lips were thinner in her younger days.
“She looks disgusting…..what is wrong with her face?” said another.
But the criticism didn’t stop with just the 55-year-old’s face. Others seemed to scan the rest of her body and speculated that something else was off in the photo.
“What is going on with her arms?” one wrote while another commented, “Arms of an 80 year old.”
A third said, “As a woman of a certain (older) age I can say that the hands and knees truly reveal the aged. Plastic, phony, money-chasing and hollow.”

— georgibesti (@georgibesti) July 9, 2025Sanchez’s new husband was no where to be found in her outing. The two tied the knot on June 27 in Venice, Italy, during a lavish three-day wedding celebration that has been estimated to cost $50 million.
Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and her bestie Gayle King were in attendance to the wedding, along with Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Usher, and Karlie Kloss. Unsurprisingly, even some members of the Kardashian clan, such as Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner, were there.
Sanchez, 55, and Bezos, 61, continued the festivities of their lavish nuptials in luxury by spending their honeymoon in Taormina, Sicily. The Independent reports the two stayed at the San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons hotel that was the setting of the second season of the HBO series “The White Lotus.”

Sanchez and Bezos’ relationship was revealed in 2019 around the same time it was announce he and first wife, MacKenzie Scott, were divorcing. He and Scott were married for 25 years and share four children together. He keeps their names private except for his eldest son Preston Bezos.
As for Sanchez, she divorced her husband of 14 years Patrick Whitesell in April 2019, months after the news of her and Bezos’ romance emerged. She and her ex-husband share a son, Evan Whitesell, and a daughter, Ella Whitesell, and she has an older son, Nikko Gonzalez, with her former NFL star ex-boyfriend Tony Gonzalez.
‘You Caused the Wreckage’: Jennifer Lopez’s First Live Performance of ‘Wreckage of You’ Takes an Unexpected Turn as Fans Say It’s a ‘Rude’ Message to Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez’s highly anticipated European tour kicked off this week with more drama than anticipated, as the multi-hyphenate entertainer debuted a deeply personal new song that has social media divided over both its emotional content and her vocal delivery.
The 55-year-old superstar opened her Up All Night Tour in Pontevedra, Spain, on July 8, introducing audiences to “Wreckage of You,” a raw piano ballad that appears to chronicle her journey through a heartbreak following her divorce from Ben Affleck, which was finalized in January after two years of marriage.
Jennifer Lopez debuted her breakup song “Wreckage of You” about Ben Affleck to harsh vocal criticism, while her sexy Instagram posts suggest she may still want him back. (Photo: @jlo/Instagram)Taking the stage with vulnerability that felt both brave and exposed, Lopez told the Spanish crowd that this was “a new song that I want to sing for the first time that came to me when I was up all night one night.”
The intimate performance has the Bronx beauty delivering lyrics about climbing out of wreckage, finding strength in scars, and discovering that love must start from within. However, what was intended as a moment of artistic catharsis quickly became a lightning rod for criticism when footage of the performance circulated on social media platforms.

— Divo (@DivoAndTheCity) July 9, 2025The backlash was swift and unforgiving.
When “Entertainment Tonight” shared clips of the performance on Facebook, critics on that platform didn’t hold back their opinions about Lopez’s vocal abilities.
“Did she see the wreckage in the mirror??” one user commented, while another quipped, “Only thing wrecked here are my ears.”
The criticism continued with “Still can’t sing! Flat of day old beer! Ben don’t care,” as fans questioned both her technical skills and the song’s subject matter.
Some defenders of Affleck emerged in the comments, with one writing, “Rude of her to vilify Ben. Her record with relationships is the proof that she causes the reckages!!”
Another added, “She wrote this song for herself! We all saw how stressed you had Ben looking Jennifer! You caused the wreckage.”
The song’s debut comes just days after Lopez held an exclusive listening party in Los Angeles, where she premiered six new tracks, including “Up All Night,” “Regular,” “Free,” “Save Me Tonight,” “Birthday,” and the now-controversial “Wreckage of You.”
US Weekly reports attendee Edgardo Luis Rivera told that outlet that Lopez revealed she co-wrote and recorded the ballad just two weeks prior, explaining that the concept came to her while lying in bed after exhausting tour rehearsals. She described the previous year as particularly challenging both personally and professionally, forcing her to cancel her initial tour plans to focus on self-care and healing.
This latest musical offering represents a stark departure from Lopez’s 2024 album “This Is Me . . . Now,” which celebrated her rekindled romance with Affleck.
That album served as a sequel to her 2002 release “This Is Me . . . Then,” documenting their initial courtship over two decades ago. The contrast between celebrating their reunion and now processing their separation through music highlights the cyclical nature of their tumultuous relationship, which began in 2002, ended in 2004, rekindled in 2021, led to a Las Vegas wedding in 2022, and ultimately concluded with divorce papers she filed in 2024.
Throughout this emotional journey, Lopez has remained focused on her role as a mother to 17-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with Marc Anthony.
In a May 2025 interview with El Pais magazine, she revealed the promise she made to her children during this difficult transition: “I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it. They feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”
Adding fuel to the speculation fire, many observers believe Lopez’s recent social media activity suggests she hasn’t completely moved on from Affleck.
Recently, her Instagram has been buzzing with a series of sultry bikini photos that have fans questioning whether the steamy content represents genuine self-love or strategic messaging aimed at her ex-husband. Critics have labeled the posts as “thirst trap behavior,” suggesting that despite writing songs about climbing out of his wreckage, Lopez may still harbor hopes for reconciliation.
Despite the mixed reception to her vocal performance, Lopez’s message of resilience and personal growth resonates with her commitment to authentic storytelling through music.
The singer acknowledged that she had to “break to know how it feels” and expressed gratitude for the pain that ultimately led to strength. As she continues her European tour, Lopez appears determined to transform her personal struggles into artistic expression, regardless of public opinion about her delivery or motivations.
‘Do We Really Want to See a 50+ Year Old …’: Sofía Vergara’s Birthday Suit Thirst Trap Has Fans Saying ‘Still One of the Baddest Ever’ as Critics Zoom In
Sofía Vergara was serving body goals during her getaway with friends. The “Modern Family” actress, 52, shared highlights from the trip as she danced the night away in a form-fitting skirt and mini tank top.
But it is the Columbian beauty’s sunbathing post that really got tongues wagging. A pal playfully zoomed in on Vergara as she was laid out on a dock with nothing but a thong bikini bottom and black shades on.
Sofía Vergara leaves fans drooling and critic fuming over her bikini thirst trap a year after Joe Manganeillo divorce. Photo: Sofiavergara/Instagram.At first she was lying with her head down, resting on her arms, but eventually she flashed a smile and waved at the camera for the seconds-long clip. “Happy international bikini day from Ibiza,” she captioned the July 6 upload backed by DJ and record producer Calvin Harris’ massive 2014 dance hit “Summer.”
In the comments, a fan gushed that the former model was “still one of the baddest ever in the world.” Vergara’s figure also prompted a fan to share that they were “manifesting to look like Sofia Vergara at that age.”

A third person commented, “The man who share her nights is the most lucky of this planet.” Up until July 2023, “Magic Mike” hunk Joe Manganiello was the man cozying up to her. They announced their split two summers ago after seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in February 2024.
A heckler could not resist commenting on the post, “No wonder Joe divorced her she needs constant attention. Do we really want to see a 50+ year old rear end? Yikes!” According to Vergara, the relationship fizzled out because she and Manganiello had different hopes for the future.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she told El País, a Spanish newspaper. “I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore,” she added in the January 2024 interview.

Manganiello rebutted her explanation a few months later. Last summer he told Men’s Journal they agreed on wanting kids and even attempted to start a family for year and a half. The actor said the marriage stalled because they eventually grew apart.
